    1. Gents,

Are there any serious collectors of Japanese Fire Department Badges (mixed areas / epoch)?

I was asked by a friend for help clearing an estate of a huge collection (several hundreds item). Before considering an Auction House, I'd like to check with you guys here.

      Further information via pm please!

      BR, Chris

    2. Thanks a lot anyhow!

Could it be 亲爱精诚", as another member guessed? School motto of the famous Huangpu Military Academy in China?

But the combination (HK music club) and any Military Academy doesn't make sense...

      BR, Chris

    3. Gents,

A friend asked me for my support for attached badge.

Although I can read Japanese characters, I'm suffering in identifying this inscription. Based on my limited knowledge, I would assume that this badge could be kind of Sympathy Badge with respect to the Kuomintang (judging the design of the middle star).

Could it be in relation to the Chinese Huangpu Military Academy / some Hongkong Association?

I’d appreciate any feedback, which might help identify this badge.

      Thanks and br,

      Chris

    4. Gents,

Does anybody know the award criteria of the Russian China Commemorative Medal for the so-called Boxer Uprising 1900? I understand, that there are two versions- silver (for combatants) and bronze for non-combatants.

Background is attached (German) medal bar- the German China Commemorative Medal is for combatants, while the Russian version is for Non-combatants- how does this accompany?

      BR,

      Chris

    5. Dear all,

I’m currently evaluating several documents from the Archive of the British Foreign Office for my PhD.

Two signature and the abbreviation are causing some headache to me, because I cannot read/understand them.

      Any ideas?

      a)     [XX]. Oliver [?], D.I.D. 6.8.14 ?

      b)     A C D [XXX] C. O S. [Chief of Staff?] 7/8/14 ?

FYI- these two documents related to an information exchange regarding the Japanese assistance to the British Government during the war in Tsingtao.

Thanks for your help and br,

      Chris

      Wonderful bar Chris!

Naval related....Doctor?  He was certainly an Officer that should be found in the 1910 Rolls.  But without cross-tabulating award rolls I'm not sure how you can find him.  You would have to get lucky and "stumble" across the right candidate you was in China and with WWI service.

I would agree- naval related. But a medical? I am missing any Red Cross related items. But how about a Paymaster, naval official, Feuerwerker...?

The problem is, that thiis medal bar has nothing unique, which would allow me to track it...

      BR, Chris
