Interesting to see the big price variation! I remember one cased piece, which was sold for 157K in February this year.

+180K?
@Dieter,
Still 5 days to set some money aside!

Hm, makes sense! And the case? This looks similar to the current/actual merit medals...

I'm starting to hesitate for asking, but can someone date this item?
How do you figure out at this medal, when it was probably awarded?

Nick, can you id the last medal on the bar?
Is he wearing the Imperial Constitution Promulgation Commemorative Medal?

Happy bidding!

Yeap. I mean the catch and hook looks so shiny compare to the medal itself.
But then it makes sense (replaced ribbon).
BTW, pic no 7 looks like the medal from Admiral Ôishi, which was sold recently at Yahoo Japan.

Yes, exactly. And beside this, surface of the catch & hook doesn't "fit" to the overall picture of the medal.

...especially the ribbon

Gents,
Here are some new pics for the gallery.
Maybe the future owner can post better pictures...?

Nice example with aura and charisma!
Did somebody tried to clean the suspension and the ribbon or is the ribbon a late replacement?
What I'm always confused about is the fact, that ribbons looks "better" compare to the medal itself.

another 25th Wedding Anniversary - unfortunately without a case.
...but looks very nice as well! Beautiful example, David!

Nope! One out of 33 awarded medals is too tough (although I'm still wondering, how much realy very minted...)
I think getting a citation is much easier compare to the golden Wedding Com. Medal.
BTW, any ideas about any possible awarded medals to foreigners?

Gents,
I’d like to share my latest acquisition with you – a cased 25th Wedding Anniversary Commemorative Medal.
The case is slightly dented alongside, but I’m hesitating trying any “repair” (e.g. pushing the “scratch/dent “from the inside). There might be a risk that the lacquer surface will flake.
I may clean the surface of the case, but won’t touch this nice patina of the medal itself.
There is a visible indentation in the insight of the case and I guess, this medal “slept” in the case for a long time. I’m curious, how long it will take to get the award document for this beauty…
Does anybody know, if foreigners were awarded with this medal? For example, any foreign ambassadors or diplomats, who joined this ceremony?
Comments are welcome - enjoy the pics!

Chris

Gents,
A very interesting topic! I am sure that there is much more to discover, since a lot of Japanese documents can be found online at the archives’ webpage (as long as they are digitalized, of course!).
Allow me to share one drawing from another medal, although it doesn’t fit into this topic.
Here is a draft of the Boxer Medal (明治三十三年従軍記章) as well. I need to underline, that I don’t want to adorn myself with borrowed plumes. And these drawings were discovered by Nick K. and explained at the WAF (http://www.wehrmacht-awards.com/forums/showthread.php?t=554154&highlight=Boxer+medal&page=2).

Gents,
Here is another example for our gallery. The seller thinks that the ribbon is a prototype…
Good luck on bidding!
