    1. Hello Chris,

only one but in my opinion an interesting one :jumping:

Vzfw. Müller received his MEZ 1 in 1913 (AKO 11th June 1913). His EK2 should be also a colonial award, because Vzfw. Müller served also in GEA during the World War.

      Best wishes

      Karsten

Great photo! Do you have more information about the man, his service and how he earned his MEZ1?

    2. Dear friends, I have a pair of doubts about the Prussian Military Honor Medals (Preußische Militär-Ehrenzeichen 2nd and 1st classes).

      - For winning the Military Honor Medal 1st class (the cross), the soldier had to win before the Military Honor Medal 2nd class? Or could win outright the First Class?

      - The 1st class (cross) was awarded only to NCOs and the 2nd class (medal) only to soldiers? Or a soldier or a NCOs could win both classes?

Thanks for your answers and your valuable time.

Both were awarded to NCO and EM alike and it was possible to be outright awarded the 1st class.

    3. Thanks for the very quick reply!!! It´s amazing what´s researchable today!! Rittmeister Reschke got his LD2 in march 1913 and an EK2 on 13.11.1914. He fought at Tannenberg and other major battles on the eastern front until the end of 1915. Then some rear area service (no specific information) and was released from military service in march 1919. From 1940 to 1942 he served with different POW camps.

    4. Johann Heinrich Reschke was born on 24.02.1881 in Sperlings Ostpreußen and served as a One Year Volunteer from 01.10.1900 till 30.09.1901 with 5./ Dragoner Regiment 1.

He was promoted to Leutnant d.R. on 22.11.1902, Oberleutnant d.R. on 19.12.1911 and Rittmeister d.R. on 24.12.1914.

Is it possible to answer the question with which units he served before the war (after his one year volunteer service) and during WWI? Also any other info would be highly regarded!!

    5. The cross looks wonderful-- silver exactly like a Red Eagle Order with gold plated centers. Post-1918 ones tend to be some sort of alloy. That is a rather unusual style of mounting for the ribbon, though--usually seen for enlisted ranks' bars.

Almost every single senior Reserve or long serving Landwehr officer, Hauptleute or Oberleutnants had a lone LD1-- so no worries there.

Thankyou very much! Most of the LD1 I´ve seen were on medal bars accompanied by at least a KO4 and / or a RAO4, so I thought the single medal bar was rather unusual.

I paid 50EUR for my LD1, was this a fair price? Most dealer´s websites in Germany sell them for around 100EUR, which seems rather high in my humble opinion.

    6. A few days ago I bought this Landwehr Long Service Cross and now would like to assure, that it is a contemporary piece. I would be glad, if anybody could provide his opinion on this cross!!

Another question: A single medal bar with only a 20 years Landwehr Dienstauszeichnung would normally denote somebody in the private sector, not an official with a chance on a KO4 or RAO4 or something more prestigious???

      Many thanks in advance!!

    7. I know that prussian Landgendarmen Wachtmeister and Oberwachtmeister were armed with Reichsrevolver 83, Dreyse 07 pistols in 9mm (at least partially from 1912 onwards) and Karabiner 88 after 1900. But does anybody have any more specific information about the armament with exact numbers and other equipment between 1908 and 1914?
