    1. I just picked this dish up for $85 on ebay. That's about $20 over the scrap silver value. It's hallmarked 'WMF' with a crescent moon and crown and '800'.
    2. And pin stamping. The thing weighs a ton, and the pin has not been replaced.
    3. Does anyone know who was the commander of the 2nd squadron of Kavallerie-Regiment 5 (Stolp) until 30th September 1937 - when he apparently retired or was moved to another posting?
    4. This is fascinating stuff. As a slight aside, does anyone know who was commander of the 2nd Squadron of Kavallerie-Regiment 5 (Stolp) until 30th September 1937 - when he either retired or left for another posting??
    5. Mike. Sorry - I don't know. Maybe someone with more knowledge of the Imperial officers could answer this. If it was the same man in later years, that would be interesting for me. Thanks for posting the picture.
    6. Brian. Here is the Wagner mark. I'm also adding some other pictures to show the names of the donor officers. I have no doubt your ancestors knew some of them.
    7. Thanks Rick. My knowledge of Imperial stuff is pretty limited, as you can gather.
    8. Thanks again Glenn. I think he was fortunate (or unfortunate, depending on the point of view) that his period of service was a peacetime one. Probably no chance to 'cover himself in glory'.
