Hello Gents, I know I'm a bit of a stranger in these parts but wonder if anyone can help. I've got a vietnam era Zippo lighter and would be interested to know what the inignia relates to.
Thanks,
Glenn.

I love the trapezoidal swastika on S&L's and the overall feeling of quality about them. They also made a superb EK2 with the same feeling of quality. I've never been able to really grasp the Juncker fixation when comparisons can be made to other manufacturers. Kleina nd Quenzer being another particular favourite of mine. I also have a good example of the "Russian horde". It is quite difficult to explain how different these crosses feel in terms of being unaged. Quite stunning really.

That's a very nice example. I've seen odd ones of these before. Any ideas on maker? CD maybe?

Lovely. Typical W&S hinge plate. Really nice example that!

Beautiful engravings. Just the icing on the cake for an EK in my opinion.

I don't have a picture of the reverse of the above cross but this one is supposedly an L/12 which I was offered for sale but never handled. Different pin etc but similar hinge to yours Bill. I can't vouch for the originality of this one though.

Here's a Junkers of mine, frame details look similar particularly the cross hatching.

I've never seen this hinge on an S&L before, very interesting. Not knowing anything much about KVK's this would have stumped me a bit. In every other respect identical to Steinhauers I've owned. Trapezoidal edges to the swastika, date and frame characteristics and the insanely ugly catch. Nice cross and an interesting variant.

Typical S&W hinge. No idea on the inscription though.

Beautiful, welcome to the forum. Those imperial pieces are superb and that blade inscription is remarkable.

Nice pair. K&Q's have to be my absolute favourite 1939's. So distinctive and well made.

Very nice. Godets are beautiful crosses. Terry, is the displayed cross maker marked?

That's the first time I've seen an L/15 marked EK2. Lovely bold stamp.

Nice crosses Dave, particularly like the Gustav Brehmer.

Rick does this one have a shaped pin or a needle type? I've had both but I've only seen the higher silver content crosses with a fluted type pin. In my experience so far they are either unmarked for silver or 800 marked. These have the thin needle pin. I've seen two with the silver content your piece shows and they both had the fluted type pin. Just wondered if this was the rule or just random.
Cheers, Glenn.

A lovely 65. Nice frosty blacking still clearly evident.

Thought I'd show this. A silver marked nicely Engraved cup from the Officers Mess of SMS Albatross. She was a minelayer, sunk by a Russian patrol having been spotted doing the deed and pursued into neutral waters off Sweden where she was sunk on the 2nd July 1915 with the loss of 28 souls. The remains were subsequently salvaged and broken up in 1921.

Tom, thats the equivalent of porno for Iron Cross fetishists. What a collection.

I started on Third Reich EK's then handled my first silver 1914 EK and fell in love. Suddenly this arcane feudal world of Principalities and strange sounding house orders grabbed me and won't let go. Also WW1 fascinates me as a number of my ancestors fought and died from France through to Mesopotamia.
And I am a closet enamel fetishist.

"KO" which is Konigliches Munzampt Ordern. Hope this helps.
Glenn.

As to the maker, I'd say Klein and Quenzer.

Very nice. Single court mounts sell like hot cakes these days. It is a great way to show off a nice EK2.
