I'm not holding it in my hands, so assuming it's real, with the cockade nibbled and the bullion worn dull, low end, 300-350.
Thats great, appreciate your help, all the best, Paul

Yes, my first impression was that this "reenactor special" would have been happier with an RNAS badge!
Rgds
might do that, whats the going price for a KL badge?

That salty badge just doesn't look like it started out in life attached to that cap, which looks to me like it was made in the UK. Too clean inside, too!
Rgds
Thanks done some work on it "MK" is a RN prefix, appreciate your comments

It would serverely affect your ability to navigate underwater Jim, though you would know when you were getting to crush depth well before the hull collapsed. The SOP now (and in the past) would be to surface. Obviously a disadvantage as stealth is the subs main trump card, but better than a watery grave due to collision with submerged land features. If you were in enemy waters this would create a bit of a dilemma.
Having said that, many critical gauges on subs are like eyeballs and testicles, you have two just in case...

Johnsy
Just put it on ebay 330120496413 if anyone is interested

Here is a picture of some Baden Leib-Grenadiere of the 109 Regiment (note the litzen and the crown w/o the cypher)
And a colour photo of the Bavarian leib (still looking for the correct pickelhaube, but hopefully the white belt is on the way

Robert, still think it is 110th but on second thoughts it could also be 7th Grenadier Regt. but definately not Leib

Ah, the enormous "British style" hook back ribbon bar. A very strange and unusual (and unpopular!) German style mounting.
Undoubtedly an Oldenburg FAK. The last two would probably be any Prussian/navy long service award XV, XII, IX and a Third Reich Civil Service Cross-- probably a 25.
This particular medal bar, the naughty former Petty Officer with a "before the enemy" bar on his FAK has quite improperly worn TWO Imperial long service awards (a XXV and an XV):
Rick thanks, the bar is stamped "DRGM" you must admit as a collector the nice thing about these bars is that you can add the missing medals at your leisure which is good as single medals go for a song, as ever thanks, Paul

Robert, not a leib regiment possibly "2.Badishes Grenadier-regiment Kaiser Wilhelm 1. Nr 110" but I standby to be corrected

Thanks Paul,
Much better images.
I'll go out on a limb here a bit with an opinion. Your EK is certainly not an award piece nor from the 1870 era. More likely a commercially acquired replacement or for window display in an effects shop. No earlier than the Jubilee era c. 1895 and possibly a little later as the quality resembles a 1914 era EK in some ways.
Just some thoughts.
Tony
Tony, I agree as a part-time antiques dealer it is the equalivant of a 17 century copy of a 16 century piece, not right but not a 20 century copy, I like it (thats what maters) and its stunning to look at, thanks, Paul
