Guys,
I suppose it is the same as the TR vorlaufer doc, These were together so I believe he must be on the picture somewhere, the text on the picture reverse is too difficult for me to read but was no doubt posted home?

Mervyn,
You seem to know your stuff so can I run this past you.
I found it in a skip so no worries if its junk, I thought tourist type thing?
I just couldn't leave it since it looked both old and pointy, a combination I can't resist.
Please excuse the dog hairs in the pictures the sky remote is for scale.
Cheers

Alan,
I can hardly write English so I trust the German speakers that state it is past tence, that aside as Chris hi-lights it is still quite interseting and obviously a labour of love for someone at some point.
I think you need to try and establish if what is printed is fact because if it is it is still very useful for reference.
You may be able to pick up the torch where someone had to let it go for what ever reason (look at the recent turn of events with Rick), could keep you busy for a while!
Just a thought.

Chris,
I prefer a pair of everything, even if they weren't issued in pairs.
These are the last handfull of imperial boards I got, I don't think they qualify as pairs since they seem to have different types of numerals and devices.
The grey ones are true pairs I suppose the last being Wiemar I guess.
I take what ever I can find these days.

It is 44cm by 25cm, quite big, that is a standard keyboard just visible at the top.

Guys,
What would be a fair price to ask for it, I intend to put up for the Rick Fund?
Cheers

Thanks for the direction,
I am near Hannover so I suppose its within boundries.
I was thinking K might be Kiazerliche like H is Heers in the TR stuff but I know you guys know your stuff here (please ignore my spelling as I can't in English never mind German).
Unuasual item to survive either way I think and some clown threw it in the spermull.

Guys,
I posted this in another forum that has recently been taken down (hacked) with no response.
Having a few TR bits of wood, is KU similar to HU?
I think this is a military wooden kantine type plate any thoughts?
I think it has been varnished at some point.

Guys,
These are from a group of 5 albums I got on Monday to one family I beleive.
It spans a time from around the early 1900s judging by the postage marks to 1960s.
These are the more interesting of the imperial pics, I like the elaborate band uniforms and the 'jingling joni' pic.

Guys,
Would it be acceptable to add to this post my WW1 portrait finds rather than starting a new topic every time.
As I am sure a few of you may know my focus is WW2 but I often turn up first war stuff, I also can spot the unusual on uniform pictures and will try and keep it to the more interesting.
I know the most of you here are WW1 focused and take your hobby very seriously and hope that some of what I turn up may be of use to you.
Alternately is there a specific area I have missed that is for this sort of post?
Here are a couple from Monday, I am still going through it all and in the interest of sharing there are a couple of doubles at the top free to a good home, he looks like an artillery boy.
I like the funny protective jackets on the soldiers at the bottom.

Guys,
I thought this looked German in cut but then the shoulder boards, collar and the obvious maker being French does not fit.
Any ideas about time period, have the French copied the German WW2 Kradmelder cut and style?
Thanks
Jock:)

Peter,
thanks for the steer!
It is dated 1940 but I presume still possible?
Thanks again!

Paul,
Have you had a good look at the chin strap, I got one a while back from a local scrappy and on later inspection it was unit marked at the top end, not immeadiately visable.
I had this with a m40 as well.
Maybe a Lufty thing?

Adler 1,
I don't think a bright white six is very tactical?
Perhaps used for training purpose with the squad numbered off?
I am sure I have seen in some of the 'Riebert' type of books troops numbered off in this fashion to demonstrate location and function of the soldier at various stages of battle drill.
I am sure it was in an artillery type service manual and I am buggered if I know where it is now, somewhere in the 'borg' that is my cellars.
Just a thought and not based on any hard fact just faded memory!

Eric,
Just a bit of fun! No grudge, life is too short?
I will take your word for the meaning, that is what you called me!
I always tell the truth, whats the point otherwise?
I don't know for sure that the group was larger but if these bits survived you wonder where the rest is and I know the guy I got it from and he is ecanomical with the truth occasionaly because of his line of work.
Just my paranoia perhaps!
Best Regards

Patrick,
I am being distracted right now just talking to local Germans, an American 4 engine bomber came down nearby also a 'nachtjager' all within 2ks or so, I am busy trying to find out more!
I have also attended many an 11/11/ 1100hrs at our local Becklingen war cemetery, having walked the length and breadth of it, the whole thing is sad especially those killed in the dying days but the other thing that stuck in my mind is that every so often you find 5 or 6 stones grouped closer together and then when you read the caption you reallize these are crew mates from downed planes buried together!
One of my favourite films still is the 'Memphis Belle' the part about writing the families always gets me!!
They must have balls of steel or just no choice either way they did it!

Eric-Jan,
I was happy with the group but knowing the source he likes to please everyone and I cant help thinking that he has shifted the WP or SB.
I know he often separates stuff to cater to individual needs and it is pure luck if you bag a complete lot.
Thats the gamble!
Still it was cheap and chearful.

Guys,
I always pick these up as they are normally cheap and chearful!
I think it is great that a town or community take the time to remember all the 'players', even when they came second!
I have a few of these from both wars and they tend to have the same format of fallen, missing and participants.
Jock:)
PS, I havent cleaned it so it is still dirty.

I find this incredibly moving-'Requiem for an Airgunner' by R W Gilbert, who was in Bomber Command in WW2
The pain has stopped,
For I am dead.
My time on earth is done.
But in a hundred years from now,
I'll still be twenty one.
My brief, sweet life is over,
My eyes no longer see,
No summer walks,
No Christmas trees,
No pretty girls for me.
I've got the chop,I've had it.
My nightly ops are done.
Yet in another hundred years,
I'll still be twenty one.
Patrick
Patrick,
I hope he survived but it is very much to the point, many didn't I suppose.

John,
Thanks for the link, I do really like 'lexicon', it is great for tying down the detail.
17 Regt is local to me, sadly there is no name with the album so what you see is what you get so to speak, there are lots of pics but the later part of the album is the sort of pics one would buy at the 'kanteen' perhaps and as such no so interesting.
I always thought those guys wore the skull and cross bones though?

Guys,
These are from the pile of loose pics that I got with 5 albums earlier last week.
Nothing fancy but I like the SS poster at the right of the Kantine shot and the woman what is she wearing and what cuffband?
