Any ideas on the country of origin?
Cheers

Parade is through Celle I think but I will have to do a bit more leg work.

Guys,
A tired old plate but I couldn't pass it up.
That mix of religion and patriotism.

Guys,
This one is dated 1936. No maker mark.
Looks like it has been engraved so may be some sort of standard local anual prize?
Any thoughts?
cheers

Hucks,
Thought you might like this group, checked on Lexicon and appears to be correct.
I thought A.R. 1352 had been incorrectly entered but it seems it was so.
His EK2 (65) and post war stickpin were with it.

Sooner the lads/lasses are home the better!
Asking our troops to fight with one hand tied behind their back is a criminal abuse of the power wielded by corrupt spineless Governments that think only of votes and their carreers.
Get them twats over there with their face in the dirt and then ask them what is a reasonable reponse to effective enemy fire while they their pants.
I am glad the boy has been exonerated for making a good decision with sound judgement and minimum of reasonable force. They can always repair the tractor and the locals were aiding and abbetting a criminal.
He could just have shot the lot and really given them something to debate.

Guys,
Reduced the size and here they are.
I believe from one family as 'Otto' is marked on a couple and the U-Boat theme is present on the DAF pic.

Guys,
I am unfamiliar with the police policy and rank structure.
I did not intend to imply the guy was not good enough for promotion or any such thing.
I was hoping it was a personal choice for him which it would appear to be?
The last two officers that dealt with grenades sadly died and I thought his bravery may have been recognised one way or another, thats all.
In contrast if you are not ambitious these days within the UK armed forces (Army or Defence Force these days) the 'scythe' can be quite quick and ruthless.
Not seen these days are the 22 year Gunner , Pte , Sapper, etc that were ever present characters in my day.
We also never promoted on time served at the NCO rank, occasionaly it was explained to me that 'Officers' were 'sacked' with promotion in that the hope they would reach a level where they could do no damage due to the large and efficient staff below and they had no influence as such or could be easily directed.
I think our Police Force do a fantastic job in difficult times on a tight budget.
Of course I will disagree if they pull me next week for driving like I'm on the Autobahn!

The soldiers prayer
The soldier stood and faced his God Which must always come to pass...
He hoped his shoes were shining Just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you soldier, How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek? To my Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and Said,"No, Lord, I guess I ain't...
because those of us who carry guns can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays and at times my talk was tough,
and sometimes I've been violent, because the streets are awfully tough.
But, I never took a penny that wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime when the bills got just too steep,
And I never passed a cry for help, though at times I shook with fear,
And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears.
I know I don't deserve a place Among the people here...
They never wanted me around except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, It needn't be so grand,
I never expected or had too much, but if you don't, I'll understand."
There was a silence all around the throne Where the saints had often trod...
As the soldier waited quietly, for the judgment of his God,
"Step forward now you soldier,
Walk peacefully on Heaven's streets,
You've done your time in Hell."Jock:)

Robin or 219PG,
He looks like he has had an eventfull career, grenades are not your everyday occurance, would he have been decorated for that, if not he should have been.
As ex police I ask you why was he not selected for promotion or is this not like the military?
Is this a personal choice within the police as I can't imagine he would not have progressed otherwise?
Regardless its a very long time at the front line and I hope he gets to travel!

I have been staring at it and sqinting 'like a Japanese sniper', is the party badge a party badge as the white portion looks larger than those I have, if it were not might it explain the odd position of his awards?

It is remarkable that he does not wear a sleeve shield on the left upper arm, also puzzling is the stripe in the outer seam of the breeches/trousers.
Do you know I didn't even think about that.
Perhaps as a veteran that possibly left bits of himself on a foriegn field he was granted some liciense with uniform code?
He may also have been a bit resentful of having to leave his former combat unit and only did the minimum to comply with the 'remfs', pure speculation on my part?
Are you sure there is a stripe could that just be my crap photography or where the trouser is finished?

Great photos. I wonder what his specialty is for the RAD? Construction forman? Many disabled veterans went into organisations like SHD, LSW, RAD, as well as becoming beamte to their parent service. I like seeing these photos.
Paul,
Sadly we will never know but I am sure he would have had a lot of transferable skills for instruction?
Anything from recrute training to defense construction, map reading etc, I suppose. The lads around him look young and is that a bed they appear to be standing around?
Maybe he was giving them a hard time and had them move their bed outside as a punishment, that happened to my entire room in basic training, we were 'grotty fookers' so the staff said so we had to move the entire room onto the Regimental parade Square, I look back and laugh but it was a pain at the time!

Jock:
in your latest images the shape of the pin does not seem to be like a Hitler Youth pin but the upper portion appears wider than the lower section.
B.H.H.
B.H.H,
Yes it is more of a shield shape, quite odd, not a tinnie I would have thought, perhaps something foriegn, who knows?
Thanks

Uwe,
Thankyou very much for that clarification.
Shame it is a single doc, there is nothing else to research about it.
Thanks again.

I am just a dabbeler myself. I use lexicon and I know some info on there is faulty. for the Regt history on there it has 2nd and 3rd Bns going by plane into Demjansk transfered or OPCon 12 Div? My German should be a lot better by now!
Seems very elaborate for a fake but nothing would surprise me!
The old German is hard enough but signatures are even harder IMO.
I know Hucks dabbles a lot in this area and was hoping he could cast an eye over it.
Thanks again.

Rick?,
Yes 12 Div, that would mean the unit and stamps matched the time period according to Lexicon?
I will have a look for this Rohricht and see what he was up to.
Thanks
