Hi all,
From my observations, eagles on the St. Stanislaus order seem to have undergone a style change sometime around 1850. Does anyone have details concerning the change?

Gentlemen,
This past weekend, I viewed an old collection that contained a good selection of Boxer Rebellion material. Amongst the medals was a Russian bronze issue that was suspended from a ribbon from the Order of St. Vladimir. Is this sort of thing correct and if so, what was the criteria for changing ribbons?
Hello All,
Imperial Russian isn't my thing, but this happened to drop in my lap so here it is for your consideration. Obtained from a vintage jewelry dealer, the screw post has been (sadly) clipped off and a pin brooch expertly soldered on (a long time ago, I should add). Thought I'd run it by the experts here for feedback.
piece is highly vaulted...
Hi again Chris,
I'm really interested in the WWI aspect of these knives. There seems to be nothing written about them in the books covering WWI knives and edged weapons.
two more from my collection...
Larger example has seen a lot of service.
smaller example's handle is carved with the owner's name and Armistice time/date.
actually, Chris... these are war-time French knives. This one is etched "Le Compagnon des Tranche'es" on one side of the blade, and the other side is etched "Campagne 1914 - 1915 - 1916 - 1917 -1918"
Hello all,
I have several WWI period French 'Couvreux' clasp knives but can't find any information on them on the interweb. Does anyone have any background on these knives??
Mark~
Thanks! I've noticed a number of variations in design, including one type with a completely blank reverse. Are these variations in any way date-specific?
Hello All,
I have a question about the award criteria for the Médaille des Engagés Volontaires, specifically why it is present on the following medal bar? These are awards from the mid 20s onward. Any ideas?
