good question, Chris. The Centre de documentation historique de la Légion étrangère at the Legion museum may have something on him. It's interesting that he was an Attaché to the French military government in occupied Germany. Quite a colorful guy!

Nice privately purchased cross by Carl Dillenius, Pforzheim. Since CD used his own unique core, we can be sure it is no BD, or HD even without looking at maker´s mark.
Interesting... can you elucidate on Dillenius' unique cores?

Hi,
no idea, before my time... maybe Adjudant-Chef if he was in the REC ?
sub-Lieutenant of cavalry?? Would make sense in 1er REC!

indeed, usually we're lucky to get one with 3" of original ribbon!

well, it's as issued, the full length ribbon is fairly nice, original pin is there and the cross itself has a very pleasing appearance - nicely toned, etc. Guess it all adds up to the kind of cross that you just don't bump into anymore. :)

will post all additional acquisitions! I was wondering what the long silver embroidered cloth bar is. Any idea?

thanks, Chris! The leading edge of the first character appears to be straight. That's why I assumed a B. Might be a H too, I suppose.

no problem....
some paperwork...
he was in the mechanized Autonomous Group of 1er REC in North Africa, then occupation of Germany, then Vietnam. All material was obtained from his great-granddaughter. There is more material that is being gathered, hopefully the two missing medals and some diplomas will be found....

Ah, that's what I call conclusive! The badge came along with an interesting Legion vet's group, but fits well within the scope of the other items! Thanks Irish...

thanks, Chris. Thought it might be tank troops, but could not find this exact example searching the web.

The 68R is a regimental mark. The "f" if it is a lower case "f", could stand for feldbrauchbar, a stamp that was normally an ink stamp and indicated that the belt had been refurbished and was suitable for field use.
Chip
Hi Chip. No, it's a upper case 'F'. Stamped a space or two away from the 'R'. Somebody on another forum mentioned the F might be for a field telephone unit. Will try to get a good pic....

Hello All,
I recently acquired a nice OR's leather belt. It is stamp marked as follows:68R F
Is this a unit marking or is it size related?? Thanks!

Hello All,
I was lucky enough to find one of these medals. Sadly, the ribbon is long gone. Any idea where I might find a replacement?
Thanks in advance!Mark ~

Hi Marcin,
Actually, this is the first Militarpass for me. I generally don't do documents and have turned down opportunities to own them in the past, but this one seemed too nice to let pass by.
Regards,
Mark ~
