found this picture of a frackspange online, ( can't remember where!) the last two decorations are Dutch.
The one with the crown is the militaire Willemsorde (military order of William) the highest Dutch decoration for valour. And the last one is the Ereteken voor Belangrijke Krijgsbedrijven with a clasp probably saying "N.Guinea 1907-1915". Who could this man be?

Cornelis Jacobus Snijders 1852 - 1939, he was the supreme commander of the Dutch army during the first world war.
As seen in the Dutch Airforce museum. What a great selection of decorations. Dutch, Prussian, Italian, Norwegian.
High Res image's. Photo's are made by a friend of mine. It was difficult because of the glass.

Close up of CDV-4
Not sure about these mini medals, the first one has a striped ribbon so for this time frame ( somewhere around 1850 - 1870 ) it could be the Metal Cross 1830-1831.

Hi Erik,
Thank you for that information. Than this most be our man:

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your reply. Erik thinks that it is a police officer because of the second medal ( Mobilisation Cross 1914-1918 ) . This medal was available to Police also. The other decorations are civil, like you would expect from an Police officer.

I have in my collection a Cart de Visite with a photo of a Dutch Generaal-Majoor. Below the photo is in handwriting the name F.J. Beckman Gen. Maj. The first letters appear to be F. J. but are hard to read.
On the back is says Bois-le-Duc 1875 ( Bois-Le-Duc is the Dutch city 's-Hertogenbosch )
I will post a scan later on, does someone have more info about this person and his military service?

Thank you Erik for that information.
I found a number of recipients of the Order of the Crown of Siam and of the Black star of Benin in a newspaper archive. But wasn't able to find a match.

Do you have any idea how to procede? Do you know any other newspaper archives?

Very interesting information about these police officers. Thanks for posting this. where police officers from places like Den Haag and Rotterdam also so heavily awarded with foreign awards?
I can not find any info about the visit from Siam. I can't even find a correct date. I'm now trying to find newspaper archives from that time periode.

Thanks, Great info. So it is possible that it is one of these persons..
Dinant de Ridder, F.G.C.J. Fundter de Beauch?ne, A. Kummer, A.F. Dietz, J.A. Willems, F. Logemaat;
I'm looking on google to find info about the state visit from thailand.

Thank you Erik,
Is information about medals awarded during these two state visits available somewhere in an archive?
Sorry for not answering your question by e-mail, but I'm a bit behind on answering the e-mails through my website.
My first idea would be a police commissioner or chief commissioner. The Dutch police was a uniformed service and thus elegible for the Mobilisation Cross 1914-1918. In 1910 a French state visit took place and - although I'm not certain about the exact date - the King of Siam visited the Dutch Queen about 1913-1915.
The Order of Orange-Nassau was quite common to be awarded to senior ranking Dutch police officers.
Cheers,
Erik
