I believe that "Von Faber" and later "Faber-Castell" where the pencil makers. Not "Castell-Castell" ?

Nice collection Roeland. Did you manage to find out who the person on your painting posted on marktplaats was? ( I was the one mailing you about this forum )

Very nice picture Erik. I just love seeing these old photo's with medals in wear. It is a shame that only so few are available on the market!
Did you receive my pm and envelope?

The black star of Benin/France is also called "Black star of Annam, Black star of Porto Novo and Black star of B?nin" in the Newspaper archive...
I browsed and searched the archive the whole morning without any results.. Erik, do you have something about these persons?

Hello Jacky, that was indeed a nice set ( not a bar ). I don't have pictures of it. The seller pulled it from marktplaats and sold it on ebay.

I found some more interesting papers. Including several battle orders from Indonesia with hand drawn maps etc. Also all of his military ID cards are in the lot.

Is it a badge or a brooch?
Peter
Hi Peter, I didn't know how to call it. ( my English vocabulary isn't very large! ) There is a clasp in the back that can be opened and closed. It looks like it is meant to be placed over a piece of fabric. Like a breast pocket.

This badge came from the estate of a Dutch Colonel who fought in Indonesia. Any ideas?

This is all so far ( haven't started on the three maps! )
What I can't find is a diploma for the Merit Cross. Does anyone know if these where given to recipients? Or did they only receive a copy of the royal decree?

p.s.
How comes he's wearing 4 stars on his OHK, while he has only 3 clasps on his war commemorative cross??
Also what is he wearing just below his button on the first picture??
kind regards,
Jacky
That was a mistake by the Van Wielik firm. They believed he also received the ,,Arnhem-Nijmegen-Walcheren 1944" clasp.
I think that he is wearing the Nijmegen March cross in that picture!
