    1. Hello Gavin, hello Tom

I was looking to this thread only by today and I was getting more and more curious about what will come up next as you continued the discussion.

First thing the order you bought is for sure not Mr. Puric's for more than one reason. First a accompanying calling card is a very good selling performer and often used by non 100% honest dealers. Of cours they will have the accompanying text not clearly state that the order and the card have belonged to the same person. So you will never have the slightes chance to treat them as liars.

Second the Sorlini production started in the late 1930ies so it would be very uncommon that he was awarded one of those production items. And to be more cruel it looks that the order you have more like a Hugunin production rather than Sorlini, the quality of the making is too good for Sorlini, the box for certain is OK.

Third (the most wondering) is the answer of the Embassy people, if the have a list to look after who received or not and what orders I would be the first one amongst many other people liking to have a look at that list. Why? because this list does not exist. There was only the official bureau of orders and decorations in Belgrade keeping track of thos informations and unfortunately all of those tracks and databases have been destroyed in a fire probably on the bombing of Belgrad during the WW II and since then all data has been lost. Except for some class I and II classes as they have been published also in newspapers or military bulletins and they have been stocked and archived in other places.

You did a perfect research on orders and persons but unfortunately (and I am sorry for that) you will not manage to correctly tie those things togheter as they do not belong togheter.

For more pictures on Serbian orders look at my website.

If I could help any further please let me know or PM me.

      Best regards from Switzerland

      Milan

Hello Gavin -- Thought I should let you know about our latest information. We have contacted and spoken with both the Serbian Consulate and the Serbian Embassy. The Consul and an official from the embassy have confirmed that Bojidar Pouritch did NOT receive the the Order of St Sava 4th class, nor any other award that would be stated in his file. We did get considerable other pieces of information for the research that we are conducting, but I thought you should know. Rather disappointing. --- Tom

    2. Is there any way to discern if it is original or a copy? What should I be looking for?

The complexity of the order makes it almost impossible to craftmanship a copy, there are newly made "copys" which are so cheap and poor looking that you could distinguish them as copys out of an airplane. Otherwise there are no fakes or copys around, the only issue is to find a perfect preserved piece which was not too much worn.

      regards

      Milan

PS: I will look if i can find a picture of one of those copys (by the way the copys are a bit smaler in size than the originals

    3. Hello Linas

your item looks good and as Emanuel said it is a Swiss made Huguenin piece of work of the Vth class of the white eagle without swords. If you like you can go and compare a little bit with the pictures on my own website. Any questions are always welcome. Enjoy collecting Serbian orders they are among the most beautiful you will see.

      Milan

      Thanks for the photo Emanuel.

      Ours look very similar.

I also registered with both photo sharing sites. Even though ImageShack shows great resolution photos, I can't figure out how to organize different photos into different albums (I am tech-stupid).

Thus, I registered with PhotoBucket and it seems to work better - album-wise that is.

OK Emanuel. Very nice to have met you online and thank you for all your assistance.

      Take care. Linas

    5. Hello Anatoly

I have experienced same problem with differnt users and sellers on ebay and other vending sites which used direct links to my pictures. As soon as I have detected them I took the time to exchange the order pictures with all kinds of other "type" pictures which resulted in some of the vendors beeing baned from ebay and similar sites due to not conform picture material. (I have posted nude women .....).:shame::ninja:

Since I have done this the number of "free" uses have been at zero with my site, I think it was more worth than writing a letter of complaint.

      Best regards and good luck

    7. Hello and thanks for the flowers!

There is a complete book in working progress on this subject it will contain hundreds of marvelous pictures (I had the oportunity to see them all). A small part of them is out of my collection and all the 3-4 "biggest" Serbia collections from around the world will be also present with pictures.

The book was supposed to be published last year but some problems arouse and my last info was that this summer it should be OK. I am hoping and waiting .......

      Best regards

      Milan

Alex, great pieces in Superb condition!!

      Congrats.

      @Milan,

In time to time I visit the side,I have to say unique of it's kind.

Did you ever consider to make a catalogue at least for the Orders for a start in PDF?

It will be a great job and we can all help with extra photos and such.

    8. Great photo

the badge is from the association of war veterans of WWI, thus the picture should be definitely from the post WWI era, after 1930 as the order of the yugoslav crown was instituted on april 5 1930.

      Regards

      Milan

      Great photo Ulsterman,

He owned the Yugoslavian crown ( far left order, out of the medal bar ) 2 Milos Obilic medals, Albanian Commemorative, Peter's I Merit medal and the medals from Both Balkan wars, B' Peter's cross and A', Kosovo medal.

I don't know though what the badge was for.....

    9. Thats perfect !

Yes this is also a Bertrand issue, Bertrand has two different looking realisations of the portrait of St. Sava. The present is the one of "lesser" quality than the other one. We have not been able to contribute the two different subvariants to a specific time period.

      Regards

      Milan

      Thank you,

this is as good of a pic as I can get it at the moment, hope it helps

      Cheers

    10. Nice collection Andrej75

the left box is not coresponding the order. Huguenin made no red robe items of the St. Sava order. Should be a French or Austrian made item, I would need a more detailed picture of the order itself to determine the manufacturer.

The right item is a obvious French made Bertrand issue.

      Best regards

      Milan

I figured I'd share some of my collection as I've joined in :P

I am very new at this as I started about a year ago, so feel free to give me some hints and feedback

Two orders of Saint Sava V and IV, red robes

    11. Very nice X-mas present, congratulations for the new mmber in your collection.

I do not know much about Greek orders but comparing it with Montenegro orderof Danilo I. the suspension of the crown looks absolutely the same as with Lemaitre made items of Danilo order. Huguenin has completely different "type" of suspension.

Hope that this maybe could help.

Best regards and a happy new year

      Milan

      Hi,

My Xmas present has been a lovely greek order of the Redeemer, it?s really one of pretty order that I have

had in my hands (pity of chip in enamel :( ). Watching with the lens, it is valued perfectly that the redeemer was painted by hand.

The order is a silver cross (fifth class, 2nd model), but I not to know the maker, looking in the Web, I have seen several: Lemaitre (Paris), Huguenin (Swiss), Greek jewelers...it?s possible to know the maker or at least the period of issue?.

      Best regards

    12. Hello Andrej75

this is the collar badge of the Order of Nemanjic (orden Nemanjica). This order was instituted on 25.4.1993 and is the third highest order of the republic of Srpska (republika Srpska).

The accompanying brest star is missing.

      Hi

just wandering is somebody can help me out on this one-did SAO Krajina have any medals or orders of its own during 1990-1995?

I came across advertised Krajina Order on eBay recently that was presented as Order Of Serbian Hero. I am fairly confident that Republic of Serbian Krajina had no orders of its own. Here are the photos

      Thanks

    13. Hello Sneaky

as I wonder why you are concerned about this topic I assume that YOU are the seller of this wonderfully faked medal. Yes english is not my native language and as it happens there was a typing mistake.

I think that I have surely seen more items of this medal than you. I have at least a comparative number of more than ten items. So I think that I can say, just from looking at pictures , if there is a high probability (near 100%) that this medal is is not genuine.

The embossing of the present medal shows no wear and you can see that the gilding was done afterwards, the gilding is softening the contours of the letters (embossed) and the look "smoother" than they should.

Regarding my reputation you can leave it on my own what I will do with it it is absolutely not your concern.

      Regards

      Milan

Milan, I guess you can't explain what you said. "First you have to look at the embossing of the inscriptions, they are not work". Your opinion seems to lack solid proof and explanation and hence your premise seems to be unfortunately not true. This is one of the ways you degrade your reputation, unfortunately.

    14. Absolutely correct

there are two versions of this medal, the one on my pictures without the "Scharff" writing underneath the bust and the one of the medal on ebay which has the writting. Nevertheless the medals are same size and same working.

And I am still standing with my opinion that the medal offerd is a fake !

You forgot to mention that the medal was made in different versions, some with sharff hallmark some without, some with different diameters than others. What is the diameter of your medal? can you give me info on that? your medal apparently doesn't have the manufacturer's hallmark.
