Dear friends, I have a question about the Vichy War Cross:
Was this cross awarded for military actions made between 1939 and 1940 also? Or only was awarded for bravery acts between 1940 and 1944 (after French-German armistice)?
Thanks for your answers.

Dear friends, I've seen these images of Red Eagle and Crown Orders from Prussia. I found them strange beause are shown with swords, but not the black- and-white war ribbon that traditionally accompanies swords to indicate facts of combat.
Is it a mistake, or could be given these orders with swords but without the black and white war ribbon?
Thanks for your help.

Thanks for your answer. I asked the question because I have often seen pieces with the date 1915, labeled as crosses of the Second World War.

next to 1941 Model
Dear members, do all Crosses of the Order of the Bravery for soldiers awarded during World War II, had the "1941" date under the national coat of arms? Or were also awarded during World War II some crosses that had the date 1915?
Thanks for your answers.

Ok Claudio. And, if these medals were unofficial, who gave the order for design and produce them? And were they legally recognized for be worn on the uniforms?

Dear Claudio, Was there any legal difference between medals made silver and bronze? Like bronze for soldiers and NCOs, and the other for officers? Or simply were manufacturing variants and there was only one category?
By yhe way, this medal was an oficial or and unofficial decoration?
Oh, I forgot one more thing: how can be well translated the words on the medal OLTRE LA META?
Thanks

5. Order of the Ruling House *
6. Bene Merenti Order of the Ruling House *
Hello Carol. Could you tell us what were the differences between these two orders? I believe that the Order of the Ruling House was similar to the prussian Hohenzollern House Order, but I'm not sure. Where can we see pictures of these orders, or read info about their history and grades?
Greetings from Spain.

Medal for the Golden Wedding of King Ludwig III and Queen Marie Therese.

Very nice beginner's collection! I love especially the Signum Laudis with swords.
It's not easy to find Hungarian awards from Regency and World War II periods. For example, I'm looking for a Merit Order with Swords (Knight Cross) but for now, I don't see any with an affordable price.

hanks for this interesting information Komtur. The Prussian awards system seems yo be often very complicated.

Thanks, Vince, for the information. I suppose, therefore, that the award was instituted in the last years of the monarchy.

Ok. But both pilots were part of the Imperial Navy, weren't they?

Dear friends, what was the difference between a sea pilot and a naval land pilot?
Thanks.

I always thought that in peacetime the officers were decorated with orders (Crown and Red Eagle), while the NCOs and soldiers received the Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen. But I have not clear whether the Cross was also delivered only to non commissioned officers and soldiers, or whether it could be given also to officers.

Let me explain... as an EM or NCO, he would received the "Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen", the well know big silver medal ("Verdienst um den Staat") instead of the RAO. An officer with RAO4, however, would wear the XXV long service cross. Due to the lack of this, it's most likely a civilian's bar. Maybe a civil servant, maybe a factory owner, maybe a judge or a lawyer or ton of other groups of persons whose rank/status was eligibly for this class of this merit order.
Dear Saschaw, I don't understand from your words if the "Allgemeines Ehrenzeichen" (bronze and silver medals) were decorations only for enlisted men and NCOs, or if these medals could be given to officers.
And what about the Cross of the General Honor Decoration? Was it an award for NCOs only, for officers only, or for both levels of military?
Thanks for your answers and your time.

Dear friends, what criteria was given this award? Was it established for retired pilots during the Great War, or subsequently instituted unofficially as the tank crews badge?

No, it's great picture, with a good view of the medals. Thank you.
His Crown Order, is 2nd or 3rd class?

I nee your hellp because I'm not sure about his identification. I think that he could be Paul von Lettow-Vorbeck?
What do you think? Anyone of you has theis image on bigger size? I'd like too see better his Prussian Crown Order on the buttonhole.
Thanks.

Dear friends, I'm trying to find a photo of a German soldier or NCO wearing a Military Honor Medal 1st class (Militär Ehrenzeichen 1 Klasse) on his uniform. Do you know where can I find one pic of a man with this award?

Vichy Croix De Guerre
in France
Posted
Very interesting. This means War Crosses awarded between 1939 and 1940 were replaced by the new Vichy Croix de Guerre. Is this correct?
If so, for what reason was replaced the original War Cross 1939, the new Vichy Croix de Guerre? Was this necessary?
