Nice mini, Greg I don?t know, under what circumstances the Golden Medal was awarded, but it is listed (without swords or crown) in my Nimmergut-catalogue. So it was awarded like this.
best,
Gerd

For 1946 issued medals, those are in really good shape!
Do you think everybody received the 25 years Victory over Germany Jubilee Medal?
The only thing I always worry about those groups with unumbered CSM, is that one of the previous seller has slip a missing unumbered CSM to the group. We never know if it comes from the group or if it was missing.
But in your case the condition of both CSM and BM are consistent, so I think it is a really nice little group.
I don't know what you want to know on the stamps, but it is interesting that you can see the different variations with the stars and the snowflakes.
Yes, indeed, they are consistent in wear and at least the last seller didn?t add this MMM to the group. I agree with you though, thats a point, i am allways a bit sceptical about too, when i see a unnumbered MMM with document.
I think, eveyone got the 25 years Victory Jubilee Medal. I don?t think, you had to apply for it, right? I hope, another member can clear that up.
I would like to know the names of the Units represented in the stamps. The second one is a numbered unit 30625, like it seems, but i don?t recognize the first one. I will add a scan later, as its not visible very good on the photo...
Thanks for your comment though

Bravery Medal and Military Merit Medal, both in nice condition

Gentlemen,
here is a little group of Medals, awarded to Alexander Pavlovitch Chervinsky. I would like to ask for your assistence with the stamps in the Documents.
But first, here is a pic of the complete group. It consists of
Bravery Medal Nr. 2.040.274
Military Merit Medal w/o s/n
(these two in a Medal-book)
Medal for 20 years Victory over Germany with Document
Medal for 30 years Victory over Germany with Document
Medal 30 years Armed Forces with Document
Medal 40 years Armed Forces with Document
Medal 60 years Armed Forces with Dcoument
Isn?t it very likely, that at least his 25 years VoG Jubilee Medal is missing?

R 20 -- The "White Laval" Teacher Pin
Looks really nice, but what is a Laval? Has it to do with the Laval Nozzle, invented by Carl Gustav Patrik de Laval?

Nice little group, Bryan Let us know, what the research says.

Allright, here is another one. This is an interesting piece, as its a so called "spare", which means, its an example of an earlier run, but numbered in the s/n-range of the following run.
OPW 2nd class Nr. 511.279 "spare" obverse

Thanks Gerd.
But are they mint specific or worker specific and still..... why were they really needed?
Jim
Jim,
i think, they are worker specific. The reasons as to why mark them at all is beyond me.

Jim,
you are right, orders were officially minted in mass-production from several mints in the former Soviet-Union. There were mints in Leningrad, Moscow and Krasnokamsk, i know of.
Maker marks, a better description may be manufacturer mark are the signs of the actual worker, who assembled or finished the piece. I don?t know the reason for the marks, but i guess, its to be able to backtrace the worker, who made this piece.
I have seen this marks on early Red Banners, OGPW?s, BoH?s, ORBL?s and Khmelnitsky?s, Suvorov?s and Kutuzov?s, mostly 3rd classes.
Here are some examples:

ORBL with "ГО" manufacturers mark

ORB with "7" manufacturer mark
Hope, this helps...
best,
Gerd

Dear Gerd,
you note:
At the 7th of february 1945 there had been no fights in or around Vienna, but in Budapest. So he got his
OGPW 2cl for Budapest AND Vienna.
The Moscow-Medal is noted, but at the photograph we see two more medals beside the Moscow-Medal: Germany-Medal and Budapest (?) OR Vienna (?) Medal. Why didn't he got both of the Medals?
Interesting comrade .
Best regards
Christian
Christian,
thank you for the additional information, its much appreciated Unfortunately is impossible to recognize the second campaign-medal on the photo.
best,
Gerd

Nice Gerd. I'd use actual Russian uniform cloth. Easy enough to get and the prices are reasonable... I like it, you can finish the wood anyway you like. Patent it quick!!!
Thanks, Rick. The use of Uniforum cloth is a good idea and like you said, it should be easy to get ahold of a reproduction-tunic for this.
I have a talent to miss the obvious
Thanks again
Gerd

Thank you Keep in mind, thats just a "prototype"

Hi Chuck,
thanks a lot for your opinion and the suggestions. I am going to do different versions, the one displayed on top of the thread, another 2-place with a rectangular plate and additionally i?ll try to do the version, Ralph suggested. I like the idea with the different woods and i think, a nice dark wood would look very nice too. If i get ahold of the parts, i need, i get some darker wood too.
This version is just mounted on the acrylic, but i really like the idea of an additional layer to protect the piece. That wouldn?t be too difficoult, i guess. This would also add the possibility to display Documents between two layers and probably even combinations are possible, an Order with a Document for example...
I will work on this idea and include the excellent suggestions from this thread.
Doc, i?ll keep your inquiry in mind

Suggestion: Rectangular piece of plexiglas, heat and bend (or cut, mitered and screwed back together) to a 50-60 degree angle. If you like the wood, use some strips to frame the plexi.
...rough idea:
Thats excellent, Ralph! Thanks for the idea. Thats not only nice, but also very stable.
I?ll get some perspex in the next days and try both ideas. I?ll keep you updated.
Great suggestions everyone, thanks a lot
