Here is a "K" orders-book, 1967-edition awarded 1980

This is a special case of an ORB in my opinion. I would be willing to pay up to 5 or 6 times, what another Type 4 Red Banner would go for (~100 Dollar)
Absolutely mindblowing research

Thanks for the insight Gerd. I can hardly wait to place the request for research!!! I will post the results!
Paul
You are welcome, Paul. Do you have a contact for research by now? I guess, a certain member already pm?d you?

That are great pieces, everyone.
Chris, the hammer and the gear makes it IMO definately a workers cigarette case. I find, as you more often find military ones, this one is at least as desirable as a military example.
But i have a question myself to the more knowledgable than me: Could it be, that there were cases, where cigarette cases were awarded to workers?

No, the bow just indicates the promotion. Regardless of crown or else...
Thanks, Andreas.

With Gerd's help,
Order of the Red Banner Screw Back #68 994 is dated around mid 1943. I think that I will make a research request on this one!
Thats a good decision, Paul. Let us know, what comes out.
The book, Dave talks about is in the printers and will be available in Spring this year. Can?t await to get my copy

Thanks Gerd! So this one might well be worth the price of researching!?
Paul, i guess, it will be interesting in every case, as you get to know the man(or woman) behind this order a little and what he or she got it for. I really doubt, it turns out to be boring or not interesting. If it were mine, i would research it for sure.
It adds a little to the worth of the order, but you probably won?t be able to get your costs for the research back later.
For an example of a late ORB screwback see this thread:

all the best,
Gerd

Ricky,
How would you date the Order of the Red Banner Screw Back
#68 994?
Paul
Paul,
i heard, Rick does not date Screwback Red Banners anymore, as he had a short, but bitter relationship with one about 5 years ago and he still is not over it
I hope, Rick won?t mind, that i add my two cents. I have these in my database:
67.732 05.06.1943
68.315 13.04.1943
74.111 27.08.1943
So yours should be definatley from somewhere Mid 1943.
best,
Gerd

Thanks, guys. If you find that vault, please keep me in mind
I just got the translation of the citation. Unfortunatly its unreadable at the fold, so the few gaps. But still interesting:
Award Citation for the Order of the Red Star
AWARD SHEET
For Vladimir Vasilevich Lykov, Chief Engineer, 204th Rifle Regiment (10th Rifle Division, 23rd Army, Leningrad Front)
Birthyear: 1913
Nationality: Russian
Social Status: Office Worker
Party membership: since 1942
Time in RKKA: since 27 June 1940
Participation in civil war: n/a
Wounds or contusions: wounded in 1942
Previous awards: Defense of Leningrad Medal
Home of record: Esentuki, Lermontov St. Bldg. 102/a
Short description of personal combat feat or service
Captain Lykov has been in the 204th Rifle Regiment since August 1942. During this time he has directed all his energy toward constructing a solid, impenetrable defense. Thus, in a short period the minefields were extended to 100 meters in the defensive sector near Black Lake and the wire obstacles were increased from two to (missing) along the entire sector of the regiment?s defense. (missing) the minimum of fortification structures by 300%. As a result, while employing several attempts with groups as large as a platoon (missing) on the lead edge, the Finns encountered well-prepared (mine?) fields, containing properly emplaced engineer obstacles, and retreated.
In a month?s time on the Okhta and Kaldelovo(sp?) sector, a major effort was conducted with great work in improving the good condition of a trench line under observation and shelling. During this time the occupation of neutral Hill 104 was well supported.
Captain Lykov was the first to employ flare-signal booby traps along the 204th Rifle Regiment?s defensive sector. By his initiative, (missing) was conducted on four groups, during which riflemen were trained in sapper work, which as a result, each rifle company at the present is supported with (missing) sappers.
Captain Lykov personally supervised all the engineer work. He is not only a good engineer, but a good organizer. He repeatedly, personally led reconnaissance groups to capture a prisoner for interrogation and was wounded once.
He is deserving of the Order of the Red Star.
Signed Commander, 204th Rifle Regiment, Colonel Drabkin on (?) August 1943
Personal information based on applicant?s word.
Signed Chief of Staff, 204th Rifle Regiment, Captain Novozhenin

I wonder if all the Type 1's were made at the Moscow Artists' Collaberative or if any were made at the Moscow Mint?
As far as i know, all Type 1?s were made from the Moscow Artists Collaborarive and the Type 2?s were all made at the Moscow Mint.

A few new little Imperial pieces for the collection. This is all Gerds fault! He made me love these things
A few others here are guilty of such things but they will remain nameless for now.
Enjoy!
Eh eh eh, trapped
That double Schlesian Eagle is great, but the Franz-Josefs Crosses are georgous
Nice find, my friend.

Nice photos. I have a question: When someone held the Red Eagle Order 3rd class with crown and bow, does that mean, that he had the 4th class also with crown? If he had the 4th class and gets the 3rd class with crown, does he get a bow too?

Rick,
if you post that badge once more, i won?t be able to withstand to buy one. Why are you doing this to me?
Beautiful badge.
I like the flatback more, although the mirror reverse has some features, which i also like (the red enameled visor of the Cavallerists, for example)

WOW!!! Is that the gold finished front like the plain reverse style, or the coppery front found on dated ones? It looks like there is a good amount of gilt finish on this
completely new and unknown type!!!!!
Here it is, Rick. Its gold finished obviously.
