David here are examples of the mentioned crosses. First is the Ehrenkreuz 1st class, second is Ehrenkreuz 3rd class with oakleaves

A ribbon bar Spange is always EK2, no matter what weird size. (That would be a EK Forum thread :coola: ).
The double Waldecks were thanks to a peculiarity which allowed ALL classes awarded to be worn, and not a higher grade replacing a lower as was normal German practice.
Lt dR Karl Stracke of IR 83 got the "WV4X" 3 October 1914, and the "WV3X" 20 January 1915 (!!!). He earned his HHOX in 1918 as an Oberleutnant dR.
Thanks, Rick. I didn?t know, that it was allowed to wear all classes.
Did i got that right, in post #18 that is a Hohenzollern Ehrenkreuz with Swords and Crown? Or is it the Merit Cross with Swords and Crown?

Hi!
Sure each awarded unit had this award, and usually it's kept on unit flag.
one time I 've seen order book for war ship factory!
Vadim
Ah, thanks, Vadim. That would make sense. Welcome to this forum too

Isn't that a double Waldeck?
Lovely bars, guys. I wish my scanner would tolerate three-dimensional objects!
/David
Yep, double Waldeck. Sorry, my mistake.

Awesome Ribbon bars, guys. jumping jumping jumping
Rick,
the first picture last ribbon bar, what does the double Schwarzburg-Ribbon signify?
And on the second picture second bar is that a 1st class spange on the EK-ribbon or just an oversized 2nd class spange?
Still LOVE the little Knights-cross

I recignize my closeup scans
Actually, in 30 years I have seen perhaps 4 Civil Merit Order Medals, but until this bar was (wwaaah) ever so briefly in my hands en rute from my Evil Twin to Bob I had NEVER seen the Bavarian police long service.
It always amuses me with the "Official Price Guides" to see values given for things that NEVER turn up... the sort of "Ohhhhhhhkay, I'll take any there are at THAT price" sort of thing. The Civil Merit Medal and the Police XX I would both place in that category.
Ifn you finds one, buys it. :coola:
I hardly believe, i see these twice, when this is the first for you. I probably mix it up with another Long Service cross.
Btw, Nimmergut 2003/2004 lists the Medal (Order of the Bavarian Crown) with two versions :
Silver, Stempelschneider "Losch F" 380 Dollar/Euro
Silver, Stempleschneider "Losch" 1250 Dollar/Euro
and the Police Long Service Cross with 200 Dollar/Euro.
Indeed strange.

Hi everyone,
i got these three sets of shoulderboards as a gift from a good friend of mine and i have searched the web for their meaning, but didn?t find anything. What are these for?
all the best,
Gerd

Really? I thought the police LS was very rare. However, I have been known to change an opinion (a fact my wife would vigorously dispute).
I think so, Bob. At least thats my impression. The Medal of the Bavarian Crown was the first, i have ever seen. But the police-Long Service i have maybe seen twice in 4 years.
best,
Gerd

Oh, ok, but it isn?t rarer than the mentioned medals. Thats probably, what confused me. Thats a great bar, Bob. Never give it away

Gerd

Well, these are the results. I guess this awards compare to the Prussian War Merit Cross:
Baden-Kriegsverdienstkreuz
Saxon-Weimar-Honorcross for Homelandmerits (?)
Saxon-Coburg-Gotha-Honorbadge(-medal) for homelandmerits

Question Guy Again!
I recently became aware (earlier thread) of the K?nig Ludwig-Kreuz as a nominal equivalent to the Verdienstkreuz f?r Kriegshilfe.
I wonder – is there more to the list? I have:
Preussen - Verdienstkreuz f?r Kriegshilfe
Bayern - K?nig Ludwig-Kreuz
Sachsen – Kriegsverdienstkreuz
.
.
.
Yeah, i have asked myself the same lately. But i guess, the most states had a Merit-Medal , that filled that role. Let me take a look in my Nimmergut....
back in a few minutes....

Hi Gerd,
Nice group. Thats actually a 7th Class, not 6th. Next is a China Incident Medal, the Commemorative Medal for the 2600th Anniversary of the foundation of the Japanese Empire (celebrated in 1940) and a Japanese Red Cross membership medal. Certainly the group of a WW2 junior ranking soldier (Enlisted man or a Corporal etc).
Hi Gordon,
thanks for correction and info. I don?t recall, that i have ever seen one of the higher grades on medalbars. I would love to see a photo.

These are really beautiful awards, Gordon. Here is a medalbar, which i found on a dealers site with a Order of the Rising Sun 6th class.
