Rick,
do you have a theory, why he got this version with such a high s/n? Maybe it was reserved for him and it was numbered, right before he got it, obvioulsy much later?

They are very common, but hey, they are nice though. I only have this one so far, 250th Birthday of Leningrad.

Here's a picture of H.H... His (one of many) ribbon bars shows the Olympic award.
When the 1st class was worn on a ribbon bar a national eagle was attached to distinguish it from the 2nd class..
John, are you sure about that? Wasn?t on the second class a national eagle as well? If so, how would you distinguish it from a 1st class?
best,
Gerd

Here is a comparison with both shown Red Stars. Look at the difference in the color of the enamel. I was told, that they enameled them in batches and they have a little difference in the Composition of the enamel.

I will research this one, but only next month, Rick. I am much too curious to know, who it got and for what (probably a Long Service award, but like you said, there is a lot of potential in 20 years service)
I can?t await to get the group from Dave to see, how such a reasearch looks like.

Thanks, Rick. McDaniels says, that the Military version was awarded probably less than 1.000.000 times. And of the Labor version "Millions". Do you have more precise numbers, especially for the labor version`?
