    1. Chris's is a fine example of a badge of the South African Mounted Rifles (ZABS). Here is a South African Army cap badge:
    2. While we're in the Dominions... needs no introduction, who else but the Kiwi's?
    3. A departure; not strictly Brit, but Dominion nonetheless. Aussie Army Medical Corp collar tab.
    4. Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders (whose tartan resembles my own family's).
    5. OK gents, let's see what you have. First shot, Yorkshire Hussars (Alexandra, PWO)
    6. Nice badges, Rick. Is there a general "Show Your Badges" cap badge thread?
    7. Last one, unit-specific. Pardon: I don't know if this pic is of mine, or a file pic. If it's yours, let me know and I'll remove it; replace it with my own.
    8. It's not hard to figure out that 11285 would be the Bremen cross. There is a certain logic and order to the rest... for instance 10158 and 10159 would be "Hindenburg" crosses both with and without swords. And 11164 would be a Baden Verdienstmedialle. But what are 11574 and 11699? PS I cheated a little. It's helpful to have this :
    9. In the spirit of "What on earth will Ralph come up with next" I offer this S&L catalog card:
    10. Hello again gentlemen, so sorry, some sudden medical issues distracted me. I'm back now. It's been a tough six months... The only history I have on it is that I received it many years ago from either Niemann or Weitze as a "jeweler's copy," whatever that means. I suppose I could dig out the COA... I remember it wasn't cheap, but I had a spare $XXXX.XX and I thought it looked nice. It's a heavy piece; thick, bulky. Here it is again (below) next to a cheap replica I also own, and the reverse of the "good" copy. I could not find the thread referred to above, only something called "Victoria Cross in a Box" that seemed to go downhill quickly. Thanks for looking!
    11. What is incredible about these models is that over three decades they survived several moves: a couple in South Carolina, out to Santa Barbara CA, then back to Alexandria VA, then to Stafford County VA... the depredations of marriage and its responsibilities, neglect and two kids. They are very fragile; the fact that they have travelled over 6000 total miles intact still amazes me. The real things often didn't make it through such travail!
