    1. Hello can I have some opinions on this piece please. Is it period and if so how can you tell? Many thanks, Paul
    2. Well I can't argue with you there Gordon.I've had some very good items from Thomas and he's a nice guy to deal with, Cheers, Paul
    3. Hello guys, this is a recent aquisition from Thomas Huss. This is my first side cap of any sort and while I have compared it against similar ones on this and other forums and believe it looks ok I need some more experienced opinions. Now I know when you pick up these caps with tradition badges without provenence you pay your money and take your chances, however, perhaps I could have some opinions on the cap itself, the eagle and cockade, and finally the edelweiss. The edelweiss is non magnetic and appears to be zinc with a small amount of 'zinc pest' on the ends of some of the petals. Many thanks for any help you can give, Paul
    4. Cheers Gordon,I thought the W&L badge had a shield shaped chest on the eagle.Looking at the front of the badge you've shown I'd have put my house on it being a Klein and Quenzer! You learn something new every day!
    5. Guys, can anyone post pics of a Wachtler and Lange u-boat badge, front and back? With or without maker mark, preferably with, many thanks, Paul
    6. Thanks Michel, for explaining how the jacket came to be sold.I was very surprised to see it for sale, but delighted of course!.One thing that intrigues me,you have shown Kuhns decorations in a previous thread, are these all of his decorations?I only ask because I am surprised he that such an experienced U-boat officer did not also hold the front spange at least in bronze.thanks again, Paul
    7. Cheers Gordon, I was very pleased with the jacket and when the seller said it was from Michels collection I snapped it up.Thanks Paul, theres no way of knowing if Kuhn had this jacket at the time of the Barham sinking but its stamped 1941 so it could well be,strange feeling owning it though, all the best, Paul
    8. Casualty list,it goes on for several more pages.
    9. It was however, reported to the rest of the Royal Navy.
    10. The sinking wasn't reported in the papers until 1945.
