wasn't there a thread on theses at the Axis History forum? I seem to recall some sort of Patzwall addendum of two pages after his initial booklet.

Outstanding thread!
I have been culling the Papal monthly encyclical which here is still bound in the Bishops Palace and goes back to the 1870s. the Magazine details Papal awards and so far I have @ 450 German names up to 1910.
From what I can see, fewer awards went to Germany than Ireland, so awards seem to have been rationed informally by Bishoprics, or even ArchBishoprics.

Farcas. no I do not lie. the medal you sent me was a cast copy. the mint ones are of much better construction. yours snapped at the ring at the top in the post and one can clearly see the cast zinky crap Chinese sports medal type construction.
I will be happy to post it here upon my return.

Why do you say this was an AUSTRIAN and not a seconded German Feldwebel Lt. Type?

so, the Royal coachman ?

The book, The Royals and the Reich details his truly twisted pathetic career/life. Like so many Germans, he was seduced by Hitler, although in his case he admitted to having a strong homosexual attraction to Adolf Hitler. He was openly jealous of Eva Braun. Speer used to joke about it.
he was and is an embarrassment to the Windsors.

Hmmmmmm....what is the thought behind Dean's combination being a fake? I would have looked at that and thought Baden lower middle class govt. clerk who got invalided home between 1914-1917 and then did DRK /relief work.

as of yesterday I now have in my hands some very old Orden magazines, which outline the Derg promulgated medals of 1979. The Wound, bravery, national service and long service/merit medals are all detailed. the replacement/reissued imperial campaign medals are not, which I take as further proof that they were issued in the mid 1980s.
many thanks Bene Menti auctions!

I think it is a white Russian Medal of Zeal award for service in Russia in 1918-1919. Taylor's often used what was on hand. Given the lack of any other awards, I reckon this is some sort of Major/ Lt Colonel in some sort service corps/technical branch about 1947.

The Levente had some great medals and badges. In this case, I think this is a military sports tournament medal from the Horthy period. the Levente fought with the SS during the siege of Budapest. My neighbors Dad was a 16 year old half Jewish Levente volunteer who drove an ambulance during the siege...and was given an SS uniform parka and cap to wear. Later he was a pow in Russia, was repatriated and got out of Budapest after 1956 and became a US citizen and ran a CVS. He lived long enough to vote for Obama.

Dude, seriously, that may the rarest and best thing you own. An EK1 to An E2 for a brutal slugfest against the USMC? it would be like finding an RK doc. To one of the Panzer oGrenider officers who broke the 108th in the Bulge or a Sacred Treasure awarded for Iwo Jima.
if you ever want to sell,
act ually, I do not think I could afford it.

Cool. looks like it was patterned after the Maine Gold Star medal, which many GMIC members here helped fund initially. At $70 a medal, I hope it is a nice, well made one.
