I have one like this, but I think this one beats mine out for that exquisite darkened look. A keeper!

The rear of the MFH.

Here's one I found the other day that I never knew I had, and hadn't posted here. It's an MFH marked piece.

Very nice FR. I still haven't picked up one of these yet. The mark under the pin may be a quality control mark.

That one is great. The rich get richer again!

So what does major mean? These are the most encountered versions?

:speechless: I should have actually had a look at the one in my collection, but that was all the way at the other end of the room.

Graet thread. I have a few of these , but only one scanned right now. This is a private portrait. A regimental commander I've been told.

I read the other thread and I can see where you are confused. The cross shaped plate on the first cross is a shape seen on Meybauers, but the cross, and the one you have posted are not Meybauers. Nice interesting pieces though. I have a pin back version.

Nice. Meybauer?

Looks like a one piece cross, maybe from the 30's. Not sure if it's Meybauer, or if the maker is known.

Is this cross by the maker CD? The case is great, despite the condition.

I don't have one but I believe it's 800v all in one line, I assumed on the backplate.

I also know this page-Have you ever seen a 1st class "WILM"? Or a "Deschler","N" or an "A"?? So much about lists. We still can't identify the most of the EK makers......To come back the the silver content markings-the best example of an awarded piece with an "800" mark on the back is the famous "CD 800"! I've seen a lot of complete WW1 groupings including awards, documents and stuff like the dog tag or shoulderboards wich included a "CD 800" in the case together with the cardbox. In general the vaulted pieces are private purchased! My oppinion....The majority of EKs with a silver content stamp are vaulted. But not all-so....
My maker list of awarded iron crosses 1st class:
(All flat,no screwbacks-never!!)
CD 800
Fr
Fr W (only a few pieces known, not confirmed in a complete group)
FR
G
H.B.G.
WS (in box)
WS (engraved)
JWS (only a few pieces known, not confirmed in a complete group)
K.A.G.
KO
S-W
We
There is (of course) a "grey zone" with unmarked or just with a silver content marked Eks(flat!!)
Here is one of these examples-the most common "standart core"...I've gt also the vaulted variation!
Micha, have you heard of an awarded mark 800v? I thought that was one. Also, I don't call it a mistake, but to differentiate between the two ways WS showed thier stamp is not really 2 different makers, just the same maker with a different variation on the mark. Couldn't you have also mentioned other maker mark variations, such as the different CD800s? I'm probaly splitting hairs here.

Is this a Third Reich Era cross. The frame finish leads me to believe it is.

The EK looks like a WS. They used a couple of diffrent cores. They also used at least 3 different marks on the rings of their EK2s. There is WuS, the u being for und or and, I believe. There is also W&S, and I believe WS, like on thier EK1s.

Many thanks to all for your kind comments!
So that is a Wagner & Sohn piece - I didn't recognize that, thanks.
Yes, it is hard to make out, but if you look to the right of the catch you can see a faint WS stamped on the rear. This faint stamping is not uncommon and is in the same spot that my own WS EK1 is stamped, which incidentally I bought from Mike K, who pointed it out originally.

That's a great find. Makes you wonder who the original owners of the items in our collections were. Most pieces have no personalized markings, but someone owned them. Chances are some of the items that are held in collections of members here belonged to famous or infamous people.

The fake shown seems to have a less detailed crown, is a 1st class screwback and is marked 800, along with a clear L/16, and I admit, it looks bad. The first 2nd class does not have a 800 stamp and the mark is harder to read. Is it really the same example as the screwback?

I think you have a WW2 made example here. Maybe marked L/11.

Nice display. I'm planning a similar one myself.

That is a huge addition to anyone collecting the Iron Cross.

The rear. The markings always seem to be the same one these.

Nice been there HBG. This maker is one of the harder to find of the official award peices. Here's mine.

Looks beautiful. I have not seen that type of pin on these before.
