    1. Mike, you wouldn't happen to know his name by any chance? Thanks, Rick

    2. Christer,

Even pinpon590 price from Nimmergut's 2009 list is under the true value for this award in good condition IMHO. When mounted on a bar along with other Saxon awards it's only second in place to the St Henry Knights Cross. So if you like it .... then here's a couple of pics of this one in conjunction with it's other officer awards that I'm lucky to have in my collection :-)

    3. Thank you Ed, better to be safe than sorry. I have passed this on to Leigh to discuss with the others. However it would seem that only posting a cropped view of the front of the card if it is related to an enquiry would be OK as Ancestry.co.uk are the only ones to publish both side in one view. Of course, there is no problem with you sending a full copy by email to the enquirer.

      Regards,

      Mike

    4. As the management is British, they may delete it if they wish. I am not a Crown subject.

I leave it up to them.

The whole assertion of "Crown Copyright" over archives is complex and, in any case, one does not wish to get the forum in trouble. Nick??

Ed, :banger: A typical gung-ho reply from you. As a person that is supposed to protect the interests of the forum I would have thought you would have taken the appropriate action yourself and cropped the view to just the front of the card.

I was trying to assist the Forum from falling foul of legal action.

      But who am I ?

      Mike

    5. Ed, While I understand how useful it is to post copies of the Medal Cards that are available from Ancestry.co.uk, may I remind you of their conditions. By showing complete copies of both sides of the medal card I believe you are infringing their rules and could leave the forum open to legal action. This has been mentioned on the BMF and it is advised to only show the front of the card.

      Here is Ancestry's terms.

    6. Mike,

I just noticed this comment made on another forum and was wondering if it could have a possible link to your piece?

"This Piece is the same type of copy that "Flatken Militaria" (Brian Coster) tries to sell as original with Zimmerman "20" marks, which also comes with fake papers from Thomas Hoff!"

Sorry to see that your RK is not what you thought. People that sell these as genuine should be hung out to dry.

    7. The photograph is from a former Hermann Historica auction. The offer is therefore a fraud in my opinion. There is also a RAO IV (last type) with Crown and Swords listed which also looks like a pirated photograph. I do not believe that this "seller" has either item.

      Caveat Emptor!

      "SPM"

You could well be right SPM. However, unless you know the person that bought this item at the Hermann Historica auction, you could be slurring somebody without any cause. The seller of this item may well have been also the buyer and has simply kept the picture from the auction house.

The simple way around this is to ask him for more pictures and if he doesn't supply them ask why!!!

    8. It is similar in that the aircraft is cut-out, but other than that it is a different badge (Bavarian two piece). I have not seen anything like it, not to mention all the personalization done to the back and with a PLM. I have serious doubts myself, but would like someone with more experience to comment. Has anyone seen a Carl Poellath made/marked like this? Here is the link: http://www.manions.com/bid/bid.aspx?itemid...mp;pic=20080826

      Lee

With all due respect Lee ... I wouldn't touch it with a 10' barge pole. If Manions is the seller steer clear. The pictures that are shown there just don't add up to a genuine piece. But sure ..if you like it ... go ahead and waste your money. I know as a serious collector I wouldn't fall for this.

    9. Some really nice bars, any of those - but the one in #3 and #4 is not Reuss but Lippe-Detmold...

      ;)

Saschaw, I wasn't saying that they were all Reuss bars. Just that my favorite was the Reuss "Ehrenkreuz" 4th Klasse with the Bulgarian Civil Merit Order 5th Class in posts #7 & 8. This bar will go very well with the other Reuss bars and cased awards that I have.

Many thanks to you all for your comments.

      Mike

    10. Ahhh...the Astroturf days were GOOD days!!

I really like that Reuss bar!

Yes Steve those distant memories of looking for the "Astroturf" background on Ebay and the forums for sale posts bring back fond times of my early collecting. I blame my craving for all things "Imperial" on that cigar smoking individual (bless him)

Yeah, the Reuss NC bar is my favorite too

      Mike

    11. Nice stuff Mike! Especially the Bavarian bar with the rarely on medal bars found Bavarian Landwehr-DA... I am still looking for one bar like that! Congrats!

      Ciao,

      Claudio

Thanks Claudio, like you this is the first bar that I have found with the the Ba Landwehr DA mounted. A plus to this is the "Leser" MVO is also mounted in the group. IMHO the best of the MVO's that were crafted.

      Cheers, Mike

    12. They considered that a "war medal," oddly enough.

Sadly, many of the Evil One's items did NOT pass through my Magical Epsonification in the long ago Astroturf days. :(

That's really odd Rick, I would have thought this one a "vanity" medal ... Tut tut ...Bad Bavarian.

The good news is that the "Astroturf" stuff has now been EPSONised for all to see in close detail. Long live the EPSON

    13. Just tuck that BMV4X's ring up inside the ribbon so it's concealed like the other ones and hangs straight across.

So: busy weekend, or something? :speechless1:

A little work on tucking the ring back has been carried out and it looks better for the job done, hanging all level now. I find it strange that the "Kyffh?userbund" medal is placed before the Jubilee Medal and the 20yr Landwehr DA ?

Not a busy weekend Rick, just the end of a long sweet deal with a former member who wished to pass his remaining 25 bars with 3 cased awards to a new loving home :jumping::jumping:

And yes Stogie you know where they came from and Who passed these onto my seller :rolleyes: "Most things have passed through the "Evil Ones" sticky paws at one time or another"
