Hi David,
On september 28, 1813, Chernishev attacked Kassel. Despite a strong defense led by the old general von Schlieffe, the French had to withdraw by the road of Frankfurt. They will however retake the city on october 1813.
S I Think the one who will be governor of the city in september 1813 must be Chernishev.

Nice item.
I think it could be from the Napoleon III period, or even later.

Thanks for sending me a french translation of the letter of Eggeling.
I think also this award document is rare. An other one that was in the Prince of Monaco's collection has been sold some years ago.

Hello Blackcowboy, thanks for your feedback.
Referring to J. Nimmergut: "Deutsche Orden und Ehrenzeichen bis 1945. I.", the horse is an integral part of the medal and does not seam to be soldered. Perhaps a private manufacture? Would you have a photo of such an item?

Hi!
I am looking for a copy of pages 40 to 44 of Edhem Eldem's book: “Pride and Privilege”, Istanbul, 2004, relating to the Sultan's Medal for Egypt (1801). Thanks if you can provide me with this!
