Hello Everyone
I bought a m35 helmet about 25 years ago when I was a teenager and now in later years
I have realised that it has been repainted.I took out some wire wool and took of some of the paint to find this insignia under 2 layers of paint and it seems to be on the bottom layer. The insignia is in white and it looks like a lion wearing a crown and holding a axe.Do you boys have any ideas I do not really collect this sort of thing any more.I am more active in collecting U-boat items now.
Best Regards Richard..

Hello Everyone
A little update on my research.I contacted the u-boat archive and they found Friedrich Sell (name on dogtag) he is listed as a Funk-maat and he was a member of U318 the same boat as the cap emblem.I also think the collar tabs may have been his and the tellermutze insignia and probable the u-boat badges but this is only guess work I will never know..

U-boat leather trousers?
in Germany: Third Reich: Wehrmacht Medals, Decorations & Awards
Posted · Edited by Richard Sysum
Hello
Are you saying, just because they are grey leather does not mean they have come from a u-boat man.Dealers see grey leather and say U-BOAT thinking they will sell better or for more money.Helmut wietze has got a black leather all in one suit and he says"used by u-boat crews" it may have been ,but it may have been used by other kriegsmarine branches too. In a u-boat soldbuch the leather suit is listed as being a U-Bootpackchen.What is its name in a normal kriegsmarine soldbuch?
Best Regards Richard
