Soldiers by a mill
Eduardo replied to Eduardo's topic in Germany: Imperial: Uniforms, Headwear, Insignia & Personal Equipment

This postcard shows 8 soldiers by a mill. It is a beautifull photograp by itself. I cannot find any indication in the uniforms that could give a clue of their origen but maybe the reverse has some info. The postal stamp reads "Arma.... batalion 103 - Brief- Stempel - 1 Kompagn..". Maybe the message adds something. Eduardo

I have this medal of king Umberto I. Could someone tell me when and under what circumstances was it issued? Was it a military decoration? Thanks in advance. Eduardo

Dan, The French flag has already been posted as N? 19. It is in Poruguese and has no indication of the printer it says: "As bandeiras francezas, - A bandeira do 51? regimento da linha. I guess it needs no translation. If you need details please let me know. Eduardo

Dan, I think this is the last one missing. The flag of the Fusilliers Marins (82). It is a pretty picture of the flag and the oficer carrying it. Eduardo

Hello Dan. I keep my cards in special plastic pages that I buy from a dealer somewhere in northern U.S. They are really very cheap and made of a material that does not deteriorates the cards. Will send you the address. Now I am presenting General Pershing as he pareades in front of the Arc de triomphe.

Thanks David. You must be right. After thinking it over I think that it would have been difficult to take a picture from a photo and keep the details. Your explanation clears the issue. Seems nothing more can be said of this group. I don't know if I can get some filters to be able to read the pensil writting. Will try and maybe that would produce more information. Eduardo

This group of three soldiers has all the white part of the postcard's front written. The lines of the pencil are so light that it is difficult to make anything from them Also I can see that the photo was taken from another photo or at least is seems like that. Something else is that the face of the first soldier to the left is partialy errased or he moved. I have made scans of the buckles and the neck area of the center one. Can something be said about them with that info? Eduardo
