Here is another mundane award - but with a twist - its a Public Security Medal in Bronze for 5 years of service. However it is for Miltiary Police - rather than regular police!

Have not updated a few interesting finds - here are two awards for Military Sports during the Rakosi era. Every year there were local and national competitions.

On the left is an aluminum table medal that came in a box and would be engraved on the reverse with details of the individual and the sport. This one is celarly unissued. Its probably an early strike as the deatil on this one is sharper than the ones I normaly see.

On the right is an acompanying 'Military Athletics' sport badge that would be worn above the right upper pocket. Its heavy silver plate with great enamelwork to it.

So you bought three EK2's for $599? The only EK2's that can demand such prices as I have seen are the 'round 3' or the Shinkle (ones made from WW1 frames)

I have never heard of a diamond 9. Perhaps it is the acron marked type? What class are these 1st or 2nd class? Either way - please post photos once you get them.

Hi Darrel - does yours have the solid or the loose loop on the LOMC? Also what is the date on your brown boxes?

Interestingly this one is a 12c as well. From the collection that this one came from I have suspicions that the box, ribbon bar, and lapel pin may have been awarded to a Soviet official, but not 100% on that. The previous owner was a long time collector of personality groups shortly after the war. He died two years ago and the collection was sold off. I beleive that the owner probably kept the original LOMCC badge and gave the case to the collector who then later added the 12c badge. My other LOMC also came from the same collection.

What kind of case - the blue cardboard? or the hard cae? Here is my LOM Chief Commander. Yes - the previous owner pushed the pins fo the cluchback ribbon bar into the base - but that's history.

Yes the quality is there on both of these - beveled edge and the straight edge Kroean era. In an effort to narrow down things - what is the providence for the Korean era one? (box?) Still you can sure see the beautiful detail!

I looked over and over - nothing - the liner is dark colored. The only marks are on the pants - 27 and 85, there was more it seemed but it is obliterated. I believe they are size, not date markings. On the left upper chast is a badge for some Warsaw Pact meeting in 1982. The badge is sewn to the tunic. So its probably a late 1970's

well if you ever move to some place like Keva - then I might get it right.....

yes looing at it agiain the patina seems to fill up the left side while the lower right do look more like a part of the strike. It would be a bit of wrok for an engraver to do all of that work!

Hmmmm - interesting. It seems that there are also two types of the 1912 medal as well. Mine is rather crude in striking, but it looks like the names are almost hand engraved into the leaves. Not sure - but the detail of the words are very differnet from the overal strike. Then there is this example below - perhaps a re-issue piece for a later date - or perhaps its the original stike? Dave - can you show any of those medal bars - would love to see them!

I have no idea on this one - but the price was cheap, so I took a leap. Was informed by the dealer that it was a Czech-Slovak military band uniform. But as I have no reference for it, its hard to say. Anyone have any photos of the Warsaw Pact uniforms to share and to help with identifying it. I was under the impression that Czech-Slovak military uniforms were brown in nature - perhaps the blue is just for band??? I dont know - any help apreciated.

Hello All - probably not the best place to post these and feel free to move it it need be - picked these up and bought them on a whim. Appear to be Serb medals from the Kingdom of Serbia era, the 1912 one is probably from the first Serb war(?) but dont know much, so any help would be apreciated on what they are for, who got them, and most importantly what the ribbon looks like? Taking a guess at the obverse?

Nice one Gordon - I too have a postcard with a Bavarian man wearing a newly awarded EK2 that is facing the reverse. What amazes me too is the quailty of the film - the EK in the postcard is 7mm wide and I can make out the detail much like yours. I bet if the EK had been positioned right you could even see the makers mark - wish I had a scanner....

Looks like a WW1 era battleship to me - but I am far from knowing exactly - the tri heavy gun seems to have appeared in WW2. this one has the typical WW1 style twins. Perhaps it would help to post the reverse - any writing there?
