I think he's making a joke concerning the size. Wie wenn mann ein Kola bei McDonald's bestellt. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe it came issued as the large size, Prinzengrosse was a special, private piece as is the 16mm mini for a chain.
Dan
You are right!

Available in 3 sizes, Grosse, Prinzen und Mini, for a limited time only
Kevin in Deva
Oh, was awarded in 3 different sizes, interesting indeed!

Thx for the answers. It is a really well made piece.

Does anybody have a clue when this might have been awarded and by what state?
Thx!

Hallo militaria0815
Tom Y is reffering to the difference between the two lions of BAVARIA & HESSEN,
and the fact that the HESSIAN lion has MORE TAILS!!
He is not in fact contradicting your post.
Kevin in Deva
If we go a little bit deeper in the Hessian history we will find following:
After the revolution 1n 1918 the lion as heraldic figure was modified: From that time on had no more crown and sword and ONLY ONE TAIL.
So we see a pre-1918 Hessian lion on that badge.

Hessian lions get more tail
How would you explain HASSIA (Hessen) on a Bavarian badge?
0 -
The badge is from an artillery veterans association from HESSEN. It is the Hesse lion not the Bavarian, HASSIA is the latin name for Hessen.

Deschler never did those!
Bernd
Again one of the faked crosses.

I take 2 sets of all 5 books.

Daniel, you should at least print 300 - 400 of each book, I am sure they will all sell!

There are 10 different clasps for this medal.

Unofficial medal, ? 30 - 50.

Frontk?mpfer says it is with swords.

It looks real to me. Nothing to indicate otherwise...
Not an awarded item, strictly speaking NOT an original piece.

Yours is the badge for the "rank" of Oberfechtmeister and it is the 2nd lowest of 9 different awards. The "rank" Oberfechtmeister (and the silver cross) was awarded for a total of 50 Reichsmark which had been collected. The highest medal was awarded for a total collected sum of money of 100.000 Reichsmark or more!
The Krieger-Fechtanstalt was found in 1884, the money went to orphanages where children of KIA soldiers lived.

Perfect, Hardy! Commendations on the patience and tenacity to DO that and get it right!
I have exactly one set where the original owner unclipped his awards in order to update his medal bar (sewn in on his Final Version)--
I've CLIPPED a spare EK2 in for illustrative purposes. Second was obviously a medal from the fading-- he probably jumped from a pre-war IX to his post-war XV, but of course there'll never be any way to tell without award documents. (Probably an NCO from Hussar Regiment 16 given where this set came from.) One thing we can be sure of is even though TWO awards used that last ribbon, no 1914 GERMAN had the other one.
In 30 years I've only seen (and missed) one other 1908 Franz Joseph Inhaber Jubilee medal so doesn't look like I'll be able to clip in a "spare set" any time soon!
Be civil or find someplace else willing to put up with your boorish behaviour 0815. This is an official warning.
Do you seriously think the knight order makes sense on that tiny bar w/o any other sword decorations of WW1?? Any prove?

Austrian silver marks are quite different.

When the silver content was less then 800/1000.

I think that it is a great job. There are many possible medals that can fit on the last two ribbons. Knowing the proper one is an accomplishment in its own! Also, there is nothing bad about giving praise to someones beloved collectibles or collections. What SPAM post are you referring to?
Kind regards
Paul
There are 13 (!!!) different medals which may fit to the Baden ribbon. And who would know, which the proper one is for that bar? No one would! All we have is an attempt, finally it looks good, but how looked it originally? To be honest, is this a great job? Not in my eyes. And in this context I rate the post of Kev_in_Dev as SPAM.
Best regards,
Karl

Micha, there is nothing wrong w completing a wrecked medal bar, quite the contrary. But is it really a great job??? It is nice that interesting items are shown here in this forum, but i dislike some SPAM posts. This is the intention of my answer to Kev.
Btw a very nice medal bar.

Nothing worse than a NAKED Bar, and loose ORPHANS, a job well done
Kevin in Deva
Yeah, hard work to affix medals onto a bar! :banger:

Hi are saying that the case is the only original piece?
regards
Alex
If it was I were absolutely able to express that! Most probably the 1st one you have seen so far.
