Short, concrete description of personal combat feat or merits:
In the period that he was working as assistant commander of the regiment for supplies, he managed to reorganise the activities of the economic apparatus of the regiment within a short period of time. Without considering his personal time and leisure, he tirelessly exercises supervision over the supplying of goods and the nutrition of personnel. During the period that comrade Zhivotchenko served in the regiment, the food in the mess hall has improved substantially because of the skillful use of products and the correct arrangement of the personnel. He carefully responds to all inquiries of regimental personnel and as a result, the regimental personnel staff is healthy, vigorous and able to carry out any assigned task.
He pays much attention to managing the activities of the subordinated units. In the Patriotic War he repeatedly participated in combat with the German occupiers with the Southern Front near Korytno and Uman.
For skillfully leading his units concerning supplying the regiment by all kinds of provisions, as a result of which the regiment has not had a single irregularity in provision, he deserves the governmental award “Order of the Patriotic War 2nd Class”.

This Red Star was awarded to Major Kuzma Avraamovich Zhivotchenko, the assistent commander for supplies of an independent liaison to the government brigade of the NKVD.
Interestingly, the award sheet mentions that he served during the Civil War, fighting Yudenich, Denikin and Petlyura.
First of all, the award itself...

Silver rings silver soldered to the medals in their proper position as well as the attachment rings having their joints silver soldered. Sadly due to the heat the original enamel on the lettering came off so I had to restore those as well. New kolodkas and ribbons and I hope you'll agree their back to their original glory.
How could you!!! :speechless1:
65 year old medals don't have to look brand new... They are so ugly now...

The last letter throws me, but I think it's 848th "Mortars" Regiment. <img src="http://gmic.co.uk/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cheers.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="cheers.gif" />
Yes, it reads "minomet." (миномет.). The 't' is as the printed letter, not the 'м' we usually see.

It's 209253, 3s are always made from three 'scratches'.

Yes, looks bad.

Yes, agreed.
The RB is researched (awarded to a Senior Lieutenant on 29 April 1944) but unfortunately the archive didn't have a picture of the guy.

Interesting question. I guess there is no scientific formula; it just depends on what a particular buyer is willing to pay for the award on a particular moment, as with all valuation questions.
Something slightly different: the Red Banner below I won on an auction last year. I really liked it because of its near mint obverse and neatly done conversion to screwback. This originally wasn't a screwback award, but for some reason it has been converted. It is obviously against the regulations and maybe even done by a dealer, but does that make it worth less than a regular suspension Red Banner in the same S/N range, or even more? Who knows.

Nice. It's indeed an MZPP order. Die errors seem to be not that uncommon on Red Stars.

That is simply the first picture blown up and not really helpful. Can you make a high resolution scan (600 DPI or so)?
