Thats amazing, quite possibly the nicest chain I've seen...Too bad it's not attributed to someone, I would think that with that assortment it could be possible to pin down a name, not sure how the French are with documentation.Either way well done!

Hey everyone, this may seem like a silly question, and I'm sure I'll have a ton of follow up questions.

Since the Deutschland/Lützow technically wasn't a battleship or a destroyer what badge did the crew wear? High Seas Fleet badge?

Also what would the Imperial equivalent of a HSF Badge be?

Here's some stuff I found lying around in Iraq.

Middle Eastern awards are waaaay over my head.

I don't know the rarity,price, or anything else about these, not even the country of origin on some of these, I'm assuming they're all pretty common stuff.

I'm not sure whats  interesting to you guys that collect Arab/Middle Eastern medals, so let me know if i'm a millionaire! hehe

First off is my little box that I keep all my stuff in. I  can't believe it made it back in one piece and is probably my favorite piece out of everything.I was told it's Hungarian?

The little blue cased coin is really shiny and hard to photograph, If anyone can read what's on it that would be great!

Hey guys, please excuse my ignorance on swords.

I know that Hussars,Uhlans, even artillery carried swords but it seems (Besides Aussiesoldiers "KD98 Troopers combat sword" ) All seem to be presentation type swords.

Now the question: Were the majority of the real front fighting combat swords confiscated/destroyed, turned back into the unit arms room and lost forever? Or did the owners keep them?

I assume the combat swords would be of much higher quality since technically speaking they were meant to kill and defend, not some bendy metal that looks pretty.

I love looking at them, and it's another thing I need to study up on.

I have a feeling this was never actually made to wear, maybe because it is a bit crude, and it is strange that it would be a '57, theres much sexier things to make if you just wanted it for some reason.

The cross itself is 1 piece but the oakleaves, numbers are all separate so in total it's more of a 6 piece construction(not including the clasp/hinge),you can really see the hand making in the numbers.

It's hard to say how it was made, I think it was cast, but very well done, and filed almost perfectly each rib is hand filed on the front, as you can see small differences in each line, and there are are small jeweler lines, so even though it's well made I don't think a "professional" did it. Someone with a bit of talent for sure.

I got it tested in Idar-Oberstein in 2007, I didn't get any paperwork or anything.But I was told it was solid silver, They offered to certify it, and I can't remember 100% but I think they also said they would stamp it. Either way I didn't do either

The pictures don't do it justice, it looks a little pitted on the back,and a bit shinier than it really is.It feels real nice in the hand.

Like I said I did clean it up a bit when I first got it, it was a mess,at first  I actually thought there was a swas, it was that gunked up. and I bet it would shine up beautifully

Edit: One more thing I think at one time it was painted black, that weird staining or whatever it is on the back isn't any type of patina,and it comes off pretty easy.

I just read last night about how in 1914 I think a Welsh regt.? ( I will give all correct dates/units when I get to the book again, it is very detailed) Got some rifles donated from big game hunters, to use.

The diary speaks of using them almost exclusively to hit German sniper plates/loopholes with a few resulting kills, but mostly the soldier talked about how much fun it was to see the plate go flying and the germans scrambling
