Hey all, got a couple more to add to the collection The KTK is Silver Plated, the maker is Winter & Adler The other is a 6 year LSC in Zinc Nice additions IMHO Best, Greg
-
Yep, your absolutely correct on that. It's a one wound ribbon Thanks and stay well Greg
-
Thanks for the kind words! Your right, they were made in a zinc-alloy (war metal), zinc and bronze as you said. The bronze were made by Winter and Adler. The one I posted has no makers mark. Shame. Stay well Greg

Hey all, got a couple today to add to the collection. First up is a One Wound, Wound Medal. This one is not your typical War Metal medal, appears to be be zinc. Very nicely struck with very fine details The second is a nice sharp Bravery Medal in Silver, 2nd Class Best, Greg

Hey SR, yep, your right about terminology, me bad!!! I know better, just was in a rush. Heck, I must be losing it in my old age! I blew right past the one example you posted........sorry! Again, thanks for all your input, your a wealth of info, very much appreciated. Best, Greg

Hey SR, great info again!!! Say, is it possible for you to show the differences between the whip and chain ribbons sideways view under magnification? Thanks so much! Greg

Hey all, this has been an interesting thread. Upon further thought, the simple answer is, troops will do what they want. Even if it's against Regulations/Formal Decrees. The best example I can offer is how US Army Airborne (Paratroops) wore their Combat Infantry/Combat Medical Badges in the Second World War. By regulation, these badges are to worn above the left pocket and over any ribbon bars. Instead they wore their Parachute Qualification Badges in this position and their CIB/CMB on the pocket flap....below any ribbon bars. No one really corrected this practice. Thus I think the same with the wear of the KTK. The individual wore them how they wanted too. Thanks again for all the great pictures! Best, Greg

Hey all, got a couple medals you don't see everyday, while not rare, nice never the less Wound Medal for one wound with Hungarian War Invalid Device. Winter & Adler (WA) Marked Karl Truppenkreuz in Aluminum. No Makers Mark Best, Greg

Thanks for posting these photos and links. Interesting. Wonder how common this practice was. I know Franz Joseph wore medals with his image reversed. But, different subject all together. Best, Greg

Hello all, I posted my recent acquired KTK's one of which was attached backwards. I've been informed that Hungarian Soldier's did wear this medal backwards to show the Crown of St Stephen. Any truth to this? Also, are there other non-official practices the Hungarians or other minorities did with regards to their individual awards? Thanks so much!! Greg
-
Hey all, Hey all, picked up a couple KTK, in pretty nice condition. The one on the left is on backwards. I'll change it out some day! Best, Greg
