    1. Hi Lisbon67, Are you Reini or Stephen? no matter really ...just wanted to know who i was addressing.. Thanks for your input..i too am sure its a fake...from all my searching and burrowing... Its just good to hear it from someone who knows for sure...just didnt wanna miss out on a bargain.. You know...we all never wanna pay too much for our treasures these days eh!... But all is good..i can return it.. Thanks Gents Regards Paul New Zealand.
    2. Thanks Laurence! I had already looked at this site...and all the things he says to look out for are ok with this one... BUT i need other examples of the early unmarked ones to compare... he even states on the site that one author believes that under 10,000 these were not marked with Ges Gesch....so it looks good again... My beef is with the pin...how the plate holding it on is undersized....thats why i need another early one to compare it with...to see if this 'other' one has the same plate and pin... I am strongly leaning towards it being a fake...just my gut instinct... But i must make sure! So if anyone out there has a GPB with a number under 10,000 please please post a pic of it here so we can sort this one out! Many thanks Paul
    3. Hi Joe, WoW! you have 78 different variations of the EKII!!! That is impressive! How will you know when to stop?? (goes off and inspects his meagre collection...) Cheers Paul
    4. Hello Gents, this one has surfaced down under... Now i have searched the sites for references to thsi badge...and found some Important points to check with these as they are heavily faked. First is the dash above the L it must be over the bottom arm of the 'L' and secondly the 'O's must be perfectly round...not oval. Ok so far on these points... Now the pebbling...this one looks pebbled ok... The centre Disc is a separate piece... then the oak leaves, there is 9 per side, as per Originals. There is no bevelling of the sides...and no line or ridge around the side... So far...so good... BUT! the issue i have is the back of the badge/medal the number looks OK...but there is NO maker mark OR Gesh Gesch markings on it....just the number... and the pin attachment...its rather small in width compared with other units studied.. Please can the Gents who have one of these that is Genuine...look and compare and give me an honest calculated answer as to what they think of this badge/medal. Many thanks Gents! Kind regards Paul
    5. Thanks for the kind comments on the EK1 Gents! It is magnetic in the center... Tony, hmmm, you may have a point there...maybe this was the intended purpose of painting it this way...it certainly looks like it was done a long time ago... And as Marshall mentioned before...these are soo cheap...may as well leave it... Cheers, Paul ( if it had a rare MM i'd be tempted to clean it)
    6. Hi Pat, well according to my old copy of the medal year book, this medal is very rare! Hers some blurb from the book. While the second world War was being fought, Newfoundland was still a separate British colony which did not enter the Canadian Confederation untill 1947. Consequently Newfoundland Serviceman did not quailfy for the Canadian volunteer service medal, and this deficiency was not remedied until july 1981 when the Newfoundland provincial government instituted this medal. Those who had served wih the Canadian forces, on the other hand, and already held the Canadian medal, were not eligible for this award. The medal could be claimed by next-of -kin of those who had died in the war or since. Well thats it i'm afraid...but somethings better than nothing! ( and i learnt something today!) Cheers Paul
    7. But looy at the reverse! Blimey! look at the way the eagle has been attached! Arrrgh!
    8. The reverse... Pity the catch and pin is missing...be a nice complete badge then... Won't bother showing pics of the Fake Luft RO and the Fake Blockade runner badges will post them in the fakes section....
    9. I am pleased to say... I think this one is OK... A nice example of Souvals wartime Heer Flak badge.... Comments....please.....
    10. But...the back looks Horrible! the pin attachment is way too big for the recess...AND the catch is a butchered version of Ol Souvals Postwar repos! Blimmin horrible! what do you guys think??
    11. ANd this one... The R.S GAB...well the front looks too bright but the detail is good...
    12. Here is the reverse... the pin attachment at the top seems to be too big for the wee recess that is part of the badges casting... anyone seen this before?? My opinion of this one tells me its a Fake... BUT i am NOT sure! Help please!
    13. Now we can see from these scans..that there is something wrong with this one... the gold wash is ok...but the silverish paint on the boat...is applied roughly...
    14. and the reverse... the Maker mark maybe not so clear here...but its there and clear to read in hand..
    15. And now a better pic of the Frank & Reif GAB Has anyone ever seen a Semi-hollow F&R GAB??? If any of the gents have one...please do post a pic, thanks
    16. Gents, Better pics are here! I received this lot this morning... First up is the M.K.6 IAB...it looks very good to me...its lost alot of the silver wash...but the detail is very good. the other 2 will follow...the J.F.S ( Hollow) and the Unmarked one
