Hello all, I'm enclosing a couple of views of three British swords with three configurations of guard. From left to right they are: 1. A built to pattern P1853 by Reeves of Birmingham, with all British proofs. 2. A downsized P1853, maker unknown, marked to Isaac & Co with G for Georgia and no British proofs. 3. A further downsized P1853 by Mole of Birmingham, no British proofs. My question involves #2. It is indesputably a British-made sword, one of many imported during our Civil War by the Confederacy. The guard is of the type one would see on many British patterns, such as the P1821 Light Cavalry Saber. I have read and heard theories that these were made at the Enfield works, but nothing concrete. Could it be that some member of this forum would have some knowlege of this? Thanks...Swordster
