Have this nice postcard - but somehow i have difficulties in iding the guy, as i can't read the signature.

The collar tabs would leed to bavaria if i'm correct, but as he is not wearing any bavarian decoration i was some kind of stunned.

And 2nd thought was Mecklenburg, as beside his prussian stuff he is wearing the merit cross 2nd class in the buttonhole.

So, i need your help!

As it came with a german medalbar (prussian long service cross and centenial medal) and the last ribbon was white wis a red middle stripe).

I have this spanish Order of Military Merit now for a while, but wasn't able to get any info on it - as i was interested why it was so cheaply made.

Its clearly die-stuck, mirror reverse, no enamel at all (and never been there) - so i'm very happy for all of your thoughts!

Got today 2 american veterans decorations which are made quiet nicely!

The one with the broach on the top has the number 9102 on the lower broach part and seems to be for the Spanish War veterans and the other one is for the Grand Army of the Revolution.

Can anyone tell me if the ribbons are correct?

What else, history wise is behind those?

Are they rare or rather common?

not the same decoration ... but as there are some similarities in design and material i thought i'll post it here as well ...

The surfice of the medal looks somewhat "unclear" and has similarites to cast medals.

Also the way the ring looks, makes me a little suspicious.

So without the supply of better pics, i would stay away from it.

The info are from the Medalhouse auction catalogue.

And your idea with the civil + military branch does make sens a lot as those you picture seem to be without the saber which is shown on the one in my post.

I need help on this decoration. Its the Afghanistan Order of Military Training.

1.) Can someone tell me, whats written on the decoration?

2.) Does anyone know if there are variations of this decoration out there?

3.) What are the award criterias?

the "problem" with the battle clasps is, that they had to be purchased privatly and therefor they show up often without a clasp as either the awardee was to greedy to buy one or the tailor who made the clasp didn't had the proper one on stock.

And as this one never had one on, i would really be happy to know that it will stay like this and that there no clasp will be "added".

To the manufacturing - on the last navy bar it seems as if the arms of the st-anne-decoration are not enameld, as they look like painted. Is this only because of the picture or where there different manufacturers?

yes, all separate lots.

but thats not all of his stuff - in the next Medalhouse auction on 29th March 2008 will be his medalbar. And a special attention should be put on the 2nd to last decoration - Belgian Red Cross Medal which is engraved "Wrede".

Perhaps someone will be able to reunite them, as it is a very important historical and also rare grouping (only 163 times was the Oldenburg Red Cross decoration awarded!)

Interesting lot to the Kgl. Preuss. Kommerzienrat Victor Ludwig Wrede (1818-1890 in Berlin) who was owner of various sugger-factories and founding member in 1870 of the Red Cross together with H. Dumont in Genva.

On offer are 2 of his minichains and a box full ofhis ribbonbars and lapelbows in the next Zeige auction on the 15th March 2008.

First chain with 14 decorations:

It does read "Aid for german war prisoners 1915" - but thats all i can tell you.

Also its interesting as who was able to help german-war-prisoners in 1915 and how these people where able to get a medal from the "enemy". As if not direct help should be mentioned it could be given for donations which then might be sent via the red-cross to the prisoner camps.

But thats only a thought of mine.
