You did not know Rick, but he did have a great sense of humor. He spent months translating award rolls and relished the research. The results of his working, Daniel Krause and many others is used to make these identifications. Rick was, in some way a wizard. He had a fantastic memory and was very dedicated to what he did. I miss him very much as he was a close friend.

Thanks Paul. Many truly great memories.

    2. Hello Jaeger7,

Thank you for your inquiry. First, as you will see below, there is something that I should correct. In my original post where I said that the inscription reads “SIXT VON ARMIN…”, it should be “SIXT.v.ARMIN. …”.

To your question, I would say that it is stamped, not engraved.

I hope that this information and these pictures are helpful. Thank you again for your inquiry and interest.

      Best wishes,

    3. Hello Otter76,

That is a beautiful example that you have there.

One minor point. I think that you may have the ribbon mounted backwards. It should be red on the left, white on the right. Check it out, I could be wrong.

    4. Hi Beau,

Good to hear from you. All that I have on him so far is that he is listed in the Hannover 1865 House and State Handbook as a premier lieutenant on the staff of the engineer corps. After 1866 he, like many other Hannoverians, continued his career in the Saxon army. My notes show that he served in the 2nd Co., Royal Saxon Pioneer Bn.

I should probably point out that his Hannover jubilee medal is a 21 April 1804/ 21 April 1904.

      That’s about it.

      Best wishes.
