    4. Interesting - I knew the term preceeded WWI, but I've always associated it with the British WWI music hall & it's patriotic songs & never looked any further.
    5. "Now We're Busy!!" By "F.W. Woolworth & Co. Ltd., Publishers. Printed in England. Posted On a Saturday Morning by a lady? to: 8505 Pte. R. W. Scott, 3 Gloucester Regt. Glovers (?) V.A.D. Hospital Sittingbourne Kentilson She's addresses him as "Dearest", has just finished nightwork & starts work again on Monday, has received his 2 letters & is hoping that he's feeling better. Perhaps she's a munitions worker?
    6. "We're Ready!" "Valentine's Series" Posted in 1915 from a person with an Ockenden address to a lady living in Brockley.
    7. "We don't want to fight, but by jingo if we do" "The Charthouse Series, printed in England". Posted when the war was young on 9/9/14 from New Cross, S.E. London to neighbouring Brockley, a lady inviting her friend out for tea & a joy ride, no mention of the war.
    8. "It's A Long, Long Way To Tipperary" "Printed and Published by DOBSON, MOLLE & CO. LTD., Edinburgh and London". "Love from Daddy to Lillias"
    9. "Did you say "German Ocean?" "Jarrolds Series 1 British Navy", posted July 1915.
    10. "Forward!" Looks like an army officer or possibly a cavalry or yeomanry man - sword, stohwasser gaiters, spurs etc - a bit of a mishmash
    11. "Now Britain's tars have got a Chance...........With Russia, Belgium and France......." In this portrayal Jack's British, not English, & the allies are getting a mention. Presumably produced, like the other "United We Stand" type cards shown so far, prior to America's entry into the war as they don't get a mention
    12. England Expects" No manufacturers details on the back, just ""Real Photo Post Card, Printed in England"
    13. "England's Defenders" - just look at the "Bravo! Territorials" card above & you can see where the inspiration for the squaddie - in fact the whole card - in this one. Unlike the "HB London" ones it has no embossing to the design & of course no real photograph applied to the centre. "Made In England" & posted on 19th July 1916 to "8505 Pte. R. W. Scott, 3rd Glos School of Signallers, Belvedere Camp, Strood, Kent", from his sister Mrs A Hathway. She reports that "Bill is in the pink".
    14. Great - that's the sort of thing that makes these cards so much more ineteresting to me than pristine unposted ones. I have a couple of postcards from the same series as the "Bravo! Territorials" one:
    15. It's got "Boy Scouts" under the their insignia in its middle.
    16. "Wait And See!" A British Guardsman & his French, Belgian, Japanese & Russian allies.
    17. Don't Be Alarmed We're on guard at Hounslow. Many of this sort of card were produced for local appeal - the same card but with different place names or unit titles inserted.
    18. Postcards depicting "Englands Defenders" & allies, I will post photos & update with text later. "Let 'em All Come!"
    19. Am I right in saying that the "land" award requirements for the 39-45 Star & France & Germany Star "combination" were were ultimately 2 months (having been ammended from 6 months) operational service for the 39-45 Star & 1 day (i.e. entry into) in operational area for the France & Germany Star, with certain service such as some commando raids etc earning enhanced service for the 39-45 & service curtailed by wounds or death qualifying? I'm working from memory & it's always dangerous to precis, but I have'nt got any reference to hand.
