Great piece Ferg, one on my want list for sure. I recently picked up a nice Flieger-Erinnerungsabzeichen with provenance to a two-victory member of Jasta Boelcke.
@Ferg1
Looks vary nice to me. Like this hollow bagdes. Thank for share with us.
@VtwinVince
That sounds great. Please show us this treasure. The Flieger-Erinnerungsabzeichen is one of my most wanted aviation badges.

I can't help with the flyer, but I have to say sometimes Der Rittmeister gets "confused" about some items and doesn't know what he's talking about. He has some very wonderful, and very expensive, items, but at least once I've found something labelled incorrectly, e-mailed him about the mistake and it was never corrected.
He had a very nice porcelain box that had Kaiser Wilhelm II's imperial cypher (not his Prussian one) on the lid surrounded by what Der Rittmeister called the "collar of the Order of the Black Eagle." Unfortunately, it was quite obviously the Garter of the British Order of the Garter (motto and all) and I e-mailed him about the mistake, but he never corrected his description of the item.
Here what i have

The bar is now on ebay. Sale as an original.

Alex
Did anyone doubt this? Don't think so...Sure they are all? He's know for not only sewing complete new crap but "upgrading" old bars by adding some positions. Once I found a 7 place medal bar he made from a 5 place - by adding a China and S?dwestafrika medal, each with some clasps, and almost all bad. He is destroying good, old bars. Maybe here are some parts again taken from a pretty good old Baden 1870 bar - but not the complete bar. The backing as well as the copper sheet metal(!) do not look good at all.
Neither period nor yesterday, but about three to four months ago. Without any doubt. I hope someone else comments on this as you don't seem to be sure yet.

He's not listed as a General in either Keilig (1958) nor in the May 1944 Seniority List, where he appears as Oberst 1940.
Looks a little bit difficult. Have someone more information. Why he got the German Cross?

Alex,
This is the correct shoulder strap for the Saxon LIR100. The Saxon Garde-Reiter Schulterklappen in this pattern had two rows of piping, an inner white piping and an outer blue piping. Here is what it looks like (not my photo).

Chip you forgot to attach the picture.

Before the war he had Prussian Lifesaving Medal on the ribbon and Crown Order 4th Class, and Saxe-Coburg Carl Eduard Medal 2nd Class.
He was transferred on detached duty to the flying troops from 5 GRzF before the war.
What have you GOT?
I have Hauptmann von Eickstedt as leader of the following units
? - Dec16 - Kampf-Einsitzer-Abteilung G.H.Q
Jan17 - Sep17 - Flieger-Wach Kommando Hpt.Qu. M?zi?res-Charleville (renamed KEA G.H.Q.)
i also know that he lwas C.O. of the Geschwaderschule Freiburg in Jul16.
This information are from a small group of an flight mechanic who served in this 2 units. Both are signed of Hauptmann von Eickstedt
as leader. Also the EK 2 document from Kampf-Einsitzer-Abteilung G.H.Q are signed by von Eickstedt.
So i want to find out everything about this Hauptmann.

He was one of 78 recipients of the Ernestine House Order Knight 1st Class "mit Jahrezahlen" ("1914/1915") as Hauptmann, Flieger Ersatz Abteilung 3, Gotha on 19 July 1916.
Good thing we did all those wartime award rolls, huh?
Great Information. Thank you all. It is possible to get more information about his carrier.
Where did he serve before WW1?
Wich awards got he?

Good point Don, I will second that , his items are dubious, Ferg1.
I agree with Fergus. I don't like the eagle aspecially the mouth and i think the ground should be smooth.
All Original i see had smooth background.

What do you think of this one. It looks somewhat like, or trying to be like, the one on the bottom right of your first post, but with some differences to include the pin. The patina on the rear also looks a little suspect/artificial? I am trying to educate myself on these issue badges, but there is little information and I am trying to build a data base of good ones, bad ones and those that are not really known either way. Thanks, Lee
So here one of my. This one is part of a Jagdflieger group. It's identical whit the first one shown be Fergus.

Hi Guys and Girls.
I'm new to this game of collecting Imperial Aviation memorabilia and I am concidering buying a Soldbuch and Flugbuch to a pilot who was in (A) 217 squad for the last couple of months of the war.
In his Soldbuch it is entered that he was in the "nebenstehender abt" of the squadron.
Am I correct in guessing that his job was to fly as a protection pilot to an observer plane in an Artillery obs unit?
thanks
Glenn.
He maybe flies a two sitter for artillerie reconnaissance. But if you read his Flugtagebuch you will know.
Is the pilot badges registered in hi Soldbuch?

Have someone more information about him.
I know that another M?schke is also mentioned with FLA 29. But this one was Hauptmann from the begin of the war.
