Hallo Troy,
the price for your broce FAM is OK. But the ribbon is wrong.
Look at me picture and you will see the right ribbon. This medals will awarded in cases also in bags.

Dear Alex,
I know Andreas very well, he (nowadays) never sells anything knowingly false (or it is described as such). I can only assume that the buyers for the material were not around, or maybe the estimates were too pushy. If they had had the awards with them they would have gone through the roof.

Does someone knew who the owner is?

Hi Stogieman,

Can you post now the dimensions of both badges and the engraving.
@Luftmensch

I will add reverse photos this evening, if possible. Very busy today/tonight with Holiday Cheer!!
Jaba, please post dimensions (in mm.) of your badge. Should be measured from the top of the cross to the center of the wreath/bow, and from the top of the cross to the tips of the bow. Width as well across the middle please. Thanks!!!
If you prefer, please feel free to PM me these details. Again, in my experience, there are many factors to be considered. Weight & dimensions are critical. 99.9% of the fake Bavarian badges are significantly smaller than real ones.
Hi Stogieman,
i don`t realy anderstand what measures you ment.
Here the dimensions (in mm)
Height over all: 77
Width over all: ca. 45
Weight: about 28,4g

I've handled/owned quite a few Bavarian Badges, maybe even a lot..... my total is six (6).... out of about 500 fakes that I would (classify as such by me) pass on in a heartbeat.
Post your badges here please.

I am sure that the bavarian badge is an original. I bought it from a dealer who i realy trust and i have a confirmation.

Yes, the engraving is "Leutn. vZiegesar". I can`t open the pin because ii is repaired.
Joachim Von Ziegesar had served in FA 23 along with Veltjens and Berthold,
and there is a photo that suggests he was Veltjens' observer for a time.
After becoming a pilot he seems to have been another
of Berthold's proteges and followed him (and Veltjens) from unit to unit.
My limited sources have him in Jasta 4 from 1 Oct 1916 to the 16th,
then in Jasta 14 until 15 March 1918, He was briefly in Jasta 18 but
then was part of the big Berthold switch to Jasta 15 on 18 or 20 March 1918.
He flew with Jasta 15 until the EOW.
He had three (?) victories:
1. 6 June 1918 a DH9 at 1140 hrs at Maignelay
Unconfirmed Sopwith on 9 August 1918, at 1830 hrs west of Le Quesnel
2. 26 Sept '18, a SPAD XIII at 1740 hrs at Pont-a-Mousson
3. 29 October '18 - a Breguet at Champigneulle
The bavarian Pilot badge is a original i have a certificate.
