    1. Hello Gerd,

Post number 3: specialist badges for soldiers and NCO?s

There are 4 grades: 3,2,1 and M for master. Older ones are made out of brass and

enamel, newer ones are made out of aluminium and paint.

In the most cases brass ones have scewplates.

These badges were founded by the ministry of defence in the year 1954, 13th July. They were awarded till the end of the soviet union.

Conscript soldiers can get the 1st. 2nd. and 3rd class. Only long sevice soldiers can

      reach the M master class.

Normally the 3rd class can be awarded after one year, by the commander of the

bataillon. The next class can be reached after 1/2 year later.

      regards

      Andreas

    2. Hello Gerd,

Post number 2: Academy badge - nice badge biggrin.gif

It is an global military college badge (not higher academy badge). These badge was founded after WW II and were awarded till ~ 1955. The letters BY are the russian abbreviation for "military school"

On the srewplate you can see the name of the producing factory. "Siegesfabrik Moskau"

The military college badges also exist with years and for the different branch of services

After 1955 they introduced the white rhombus shaped academy badges, with the state seal and the red star.

    3. Hello Gerd,

I think your last shoulder board are not soviet ones. The last pair looks chinese, but not sure.

There are two good web sites, about soviet uniforms and shoulder boards.

One about civil uniforms and shoulder boards (miner, civil shipping, transport ..)

      an

      one about military uniforms.

I try to find them .......

      best regards

      Andreas

    4. Hello Gerd,

military shoulder boards from army personal from 1943 to 1948 are five sided. (Post 7)

After 1948 the army switched to the trapeze style (six-sided military shoulder boards). (Post 3)

Navy personal shoulder boards and general officer shoulder boards from 1943 - 1948 are six-sided.

After 1948 all the military shoulder boards are six-sided.

      regards
