A while ago a Finnish Mannerheim cross 1st class was sold on a auction.
The order was manufactured in 8 pieces, 3 numbered and 5 unnumbered. Only two was ever awarded, one to Mannerheim himself (no 1) and the other to general Erik Heinrichs (no 2).
This cross was one of the unnumbered and unissued pieces. The sale price was 33 000 € + commission.
And no, I am not the lucky buyer.
The Mannerheim-crosses are subject to export restrictions and may not leave Finland. And I don´t have that kind of money to spend either.
This is probably one of the extremely few times such a rarity is sold at the open market! Once in a lifetime perhaps?

Order number 410 is for sale in a Finnish auction if anyone is interested to know.
The same auction also sells a Order of the Polar Star number 492...

You are right. It must be L6 and that would mean 1940.
Which is suitable if it´s a winter war award.

It looks like the hallmark on the libertycross is E6? That would mean it´s manufactured 1934 and could therefor suggest a 1918 cross?
Since there is no military medals we can assume the recipient was a civilian otherwise there should probably be some military award. And the lack of royal jubilee medals he was probably not working for the royal court.
Of course he could have had some neckorder that don´t show up on his miniature bar.
He must have been alive later than 1973 since the royal patriotic society medal has Carl XVI Gustaf on it.
The last medal is a commemorative medal from Skånska Landtmännens Centralförening 1904-1954. A society that made farmer buy tools, supplies and stuff jointly for a better price. Today there is only one nationwide society called Lantmännen.
So he was probably living and working with something related to farming in Skåne (south of Sweden).
Strange bar indeed!

Hello!
I guess the best would be to create a new topic in the Northern European forum.

My guess is that number 1 is the Swedish order of the sword.
See this example sold at a Swedish auction house.

Hello!
How common are Polonia Restituta orders for foreigners outside of the eastern bloc?
I recently bought a medalgroup containing a officers grade Polonia Restituta awarded to a finnish diplomat in 1966. I think it´s a bit strange that a finnish citizen is wearing a order from an allied of the "evil soviet empire", but perhaps it´s more common than I thought?
The other medals on the medalbar is the commemorative medal from the Finnish war 1941-1945 (JsMM), the commemorative cross of the coastal forces, a officers cross of the order of Orange-Nassau and finally the polish order. Both officers crosses have documents.

Now I have gone through the rolls for the order of the north star (pole star) and Bürkner is nowhere to be found. So I guess we can rule out that the black ribbon is for a north/pole star.

Do you know why there are two variants of the red enameled one?
As far as I know all medals where made by C.F. Carlman in Stockholm and I don´t understand why they should have made two different variants when there was so few to be awarded. I suppose all medals was awarded during the same visit to Norway.

Does anyone know where I can get a replacement ribbon? Would it be the Red/White striped one or Yellow?
Thanks.
Try and send an email to this gentleman. https://www.hyrsky.fi/
Original ribbons for 1st class crosses are almost impossible to find, but he probably have replacements for sale.

Damn you Janne!
Where is the 1941 Liberty cross for sale?
2100€ is a pretty good price for that one. At least compared to what I have seen them priced at before.

The stamps does not look like swedish stamps to me.
Swedish stuff usually have either three crown stamp or a single crown stamp.
