Just out of curiosity, why they choose to make fake medals not fake cases? Shouldn't it be easier to fabricate fake cases than making delicatly enameled orders? Some cases, such as cases for Austrian order of iron crown, cases for Bavarian MVO officer or mvo 2 and above, are quite expensive these days.
I have searched for auction results yesterday and was actually shocked by the winning price of 2000 euro for an empty officer case for Bavarian MVO. There must be a larger margin of profits.

Hello, beautiful Hemmerle piece. It is an MVO with genuine gold medallions. The award period should be until the end of 1916, from then on silver-gilt pieces were officially issued. Of course, returned pieces may have been issued later. The MVO with swords should be from the war period. How is the band ring stamped on the inside?
Regards AndreasThank you Andreas. It is stamped as "585". Correct me if i am wrong, it should be a genuine MVO2 in GOLD, right?
And do you know where I can buy a ribbon of this one?

Hi guys I have acquired this MVO 2nd class last month. There is a GEB.H 750 stamp on the lower arm and a 585 inside of the ring. Can anyone help to identify the circa date of this? Pre-WWI or WWI period? And anyone knows where to buy an original ribbon for this MVO 2nd class? Appreciate your help, thx
And I am also very interested in the hallmark on the ring (2nd picture). Anyone knows what kind of hallmark is it? Thanks

I regret to inform that this piece is a well-known fake (not a copy, I mean, but a piece produced to deceive collectors), that sarted to appear in the early 2000s.
It's a carefully-made cast, copying even the struck maker's and hallmarks, both to the star's corpus and the pin.
The centre, also cast, can be found either with real enamel, or synthetic one. Typical "red alert", the roughly-made "FJ" to the centre medallion and the very inaccurate piercing to the star's rays.
I hope you could have a money-back guarantee, because in my opinion -sorry to say- it is worth just the value of the metal used.
All the best,
E.L.
Thank you EL for your great help. Luckily I didn't make the payment because I am a bit skeptical about the item. I think I will talk to the auction house about it.

The FJ order is the dream of many people in China. Although it is only a replica, it is acceptable if it is done well. Just like the Yuan Dynasty blue-and-white porcelain imitation of the Ming Dynasty, it is as valuable as it is now.
?I got this from a very famous auction house, do you think there is a way to get a refund?

Well, I would certainly welcome more detailed close-up images of the eagle, but this Rothe commander star doesn't look genuine to me. Rothe company was still active after the fall of A-H Empire, producing collectors copies of A-H orders till late 1970s.
Thanks tifes, do you mind checking it again? Appreciated

Hello guys I am the newbie here. Just start my ODM collection 3 months ago. After a little research, I would like to focus all my money on the theme of double-headed eagle. Most recently I mannaged to grab this commander star of the order of Franz Joseph. Well to be honest, after a small research on FJO, I was expecting this commander star to be more detailed as those V.M. production. So I am just curious that are all Rothe production like this? How come my main body (the eagle) of the star is much smaller compared to those VM productions? How can I tell whether it is gold or not? And last question is why the outer layer of the eagle seems to be much whiter than the pointed star? Is it a sign of re-mount?
