For some reason the MM has been ground away leaving only the crescent and 800. I’ve seen this quite a few times on these commemorative Junckers and not sure why . Several of my examples are like this .

Hi Vince, pretty sure that’s not a Juncker badge on the right . To my knowledge they never struck a pilot badge in iron/ steel.

Hi Guys, been a very long time since I posted here and I apologise for not replying to several private messages I have been sent over the years of being absent here . But I am back now ! 
just wanted to revive this  old thread regarding this pin back cross . I am at present looking for such a piece ,namely the 1922 version which I believe is from the same die as the ribbon hung pieces but with pin and catch. Seem to be a lot of these around at present , a casual look around the dealer sites and  eBay sites reveals at least seven or eight for sale . Anyone got any wind of these being faked or anyone happen to know how many of these converted pin backs were produced ? I have a 1927 issue piece that is vaulted and has a plain reverse ,also its in lighter non oxidised bronze ,only ever seen one of these so far.

One more , (i don't want to bore people ) Unknown armelzeichen ,might not be strictly WW1 possibly 1920's but certainly unusual. Seems to be copying a marine flieger erinnerungsabzeichen (retired pilot badge) but without crown.Certainly a ratings badge but not sure of its purpose,anyone got any clues ?? I have a period picture of the badge in wear but no clues there. Ferg.

reverse of landflieger abzeichen. Seems to have a Hanson mini screw disc on top followed by a Meybauer 'cross' plate then finally a custom made backplate . Covers most makers !! Ferg

Another Naval item. Marine luftschiffer armelzeichen and related jacket 'bling' . Jacket was all but mothed out .I just got the bits after it was stripped ! Ferg

The owner Steve has sent me some better clear shots of the badge. The wreath is certainly not Juncker but the eagle centre device appears to be of that maker although a little ' soft ' in strike detail.That is not always a point of concern as the strike pressures do from badge to badge. To me it looks like a marriage of parts albeit period.Certainly the the crown has been changed to a Bavarian from the usual ,this can be seen from the leaves as they disappear under the crown instead of ending at the base. The wreath is of a type normally seen on retired pilot badges by an unknown maker,theleaves are characteristically ' veiny' as opposed to Junckers ' pimpled' . I have only seen this wreath form in retired badges.The hardware(pin/catch/hinge) seems to fall in line with Juncker as does the three rivit construction but I cannot see whether the reverse of the centre plate bends over into the crown well as Juncker do. The eagle seems to be very tight against the centre plate ,I cannot see any gaps between eagle and plate as is usual to see on these.My feelings are the badge could be 'possible' ,the theory being that the badge was made up by an unknown makerthat aquired the centre detail from Juncker as they may not have produced that component themselves,same applies to the hardware either from Juncker or supplied from the same supplier of pins ,hinges etc.. as Juncker.I would like to have the badge in hand to check my ideas but I guess that is not an option. Judging by the pin / hinge set-up I would say this was a post=war example ......1930's. Ferg1

They seem to ' mix n match ' with these ,I had a cased example that was WW1 ,had crossed swords as per expected but had the heavy lug instead of the thin ' ose ' . I put it down to it being an overstock from 1870/71 that was used later. Ferg1.
