Really nice badge Gordon. It made me dig my Juncker out and take a closer look as I had never really noticed the burnish of the swastika, binding and wing edge. Low and behold it was there on mine as well and quite visible even though I hadn't noticed.

Any idea who might have manufacturered this tombak badge? The finish on the wreath is long gone leaving a caramelized appearance while the water still contains 50-60% of its silver finish. The badge is very well made weighing about 30 grams. It has a block hinge and a square wire hook. Reverse side photos to follow.

badge reverse side and hardware

Attached are a couple photos of a u-boat badge I've owned for many years. The obverse of the badge shows all of the characteristics of a Mayer, Schickle or Zimmermann badge however the reverse hardware matches none of those shown in Gordon's book.

The badge is Tombak with a silver coloured pin and has a wire catch. The end of the deck gun barrel has gone missing but otherwise it is an extremely high quality badge.

Can anyone confirm who the maker of this badge likely is?

I understand the Ober Gefreiter part but what do the preceding "Verw." and the "(Sv.)" abreviations mean?

I posted this in another forum and learned that the "Verw." is Verwaltungs or supply but I still don't know what th "Sv." means. Any opinion anyone?
