Thanks. That makes sense especially considering he was born in Aug 1889, making him 50 at the start of WWII.

Gentlemen,
Thank you very much for the invaluable information.
Arb, Your listing of his medals is of great assistance.
huck216, I am unfamiliar with the term 'Major (E) in the Wehrbezirkskommando'. What is a Major (E)?
Regards,
Ian

Andy,
Thank you for the explanation. I do get confused by who wore what Edelweiß.
I have had another look at my Leutnant under a magnifying glass and whilst it is far from clear, his buttons do have either II or III (definitely not a I), so this narrows it a bit more.
I assume he is wearing an STM 1 klasse and a STM 2 klasse and not a STM 1 klasse and a bronze TM?
Regards from Australia,
Ian

I conducted a page by page search of my 1918 Rangliste and I believe that the mystery man is:
Armand von VORNER, Infanterieregiment Nr. 2. Promoted to Oberstleutnant 01 January 1917.

Elmar,
Thank you. That was the name I thought as well. I have not been able to find an Oberstleutnant Armand in any of my Rangliste, so now I will search for a a first name of Armand amongst the Heer and Landwehr.

Does anyone happen to have a copy of Georg Zivkovic's self published work: Alt-Österreichs Heerführer. Stellenbesetzung in Heer, Landwehr und Kriegsmarine 1541 bis 1918, and would be prepared to copy some pages for me?
I am missing 4 pages (124, 423, 442 and 443).
Thank you and regards,
Ian

Good evening all,I thought I had this Oberstleutnant identified, or at least that I was well on my way to ID'ing him, but alas I was wrong. He is wearing a possible/probable Leopold Order-Ritter, probably a silver and a bronze Signum Laudis, one other medal on a bravery ribbon and a KTK.I am hoping that someone on this forum will be able to decipher the name for me. I was going to add my thoughts on his name, but I may have muddied the waters.Cheers,Ian0

Hi Bernard,
Thank you very much for the translation.
Can you make out the first letter of the signature, I might be able to trace him from that.

Ian

Hi
I recently acquired a photo card of an Oberst and he had written a message on the reverse.
Other than it has something to do with k.k. Landsturm Regt no 11 I have no idea. There is a reference to Oberst Engelbert Zuzzi, but the photo of the Oberst is not Zuzzi.
I would apprecaite it very much if some one could tell me what is written please.
Regards,

I have seen this badge listed as being Polish, but other than that I can not say.

Hi,
I have had this postcard size drawing (Oskar Brush?) and have not been able to put a name to him. Any ideas?
He looks a little like a younger Oberst Franz Hönigschmid, but I am pretty certin it is not him.

Ian

Seeking Information-Oberst Dannecker
in Austro-Hungarian Empire
Posted
I am after information on Oberst Arthur (Artur) DANNECKER.
I know he was an Oberstleutnant in IR 62 in 1906, and was promoted to Oberst sometime prior to 1913. He is not listed in the 1913 kuk Schematismus, nor is he listed in the 1914 Ruhestands Schematimus.
I read somewhere that he was present in Sarajevo at the time of Franz Ferdinand's assassination, but I am starting to doubt this.
Thankyou,
Ian
