    1. I have a bronze table medal issued by the Ministerre de la Guerre which is inscribed " Soins Donnes Gratuitt de la Gendarmerie "

It is named to : M.Prive Medicin Charenton ( Seine )

Could anyone provide any information about this award. Are specimens known to French collectors ?

    2. I have a bronze table medal 37mm by Bove. Obv.: bust of Gen Dufour C-i-C Swiss Army

Rev : inscription in French : The People of Switzerland to the Federal Army N ov.1847 .

I have been advised that this was for the defeat of the Sonderbund

Can anyone provide any more information about this medal? Was it given to all in the Army or just part ? How many might have been issued ?

    3. I have an example in bronze with Malay script.

According to numbers awarded , this is a rare medal

I would be interested to know whether actual numbers of medals struck approximate to the numbers awarded or whether there might have been additional manufacture for stocks or for sale on the collectors market .

Also ,has this medal been faked ?

      Can anyone advise please

    4. I have a small but far from complete ( I am still looking to fill gaps ) collection of medals to International Brigaders in the Spanish Civil War.

I would be interested to know whether any or many others on this forum have an interest in this area of collecting and / or awards of the Republican ( non- Franco ) side ( something also of interest to me although so far zero acquisitions )

    5. I have two different design Certificates of Award of the Order of the Red Banner .

      One dated 19 Dec 1920 ( signed by Levandovsky , Commander 9th Army ) to a Pilot, 35th Air Recon.Unit

The other dated 18 March 1921 (  signed by E.Sklyansky , Deputy Chairman Rev.Mil.Council ) to an Armoured Car Driver , 53rd Turkistan Armoured Automobile Detachment

I would be intersted to know whether these ORB certficates , in their various types , have been subject to study and publication  and also whether there is much collector interest in them as opposed to the badges themselves

I would imagine that they are scarcer than the badges , Can anyone confirm this?

Both certificates are numbered , the earlier in the 11 to 12 thousand rage and the later in the 4 to 5 thousand range .

Would these certificate numbers tie up with badge numbers ?

    6. I have a bronze and enamel convex circular 34mm lapel badge with the inscription in the title above around the circumference and two shields enclosed by  the inscription

The reverse is plain with buttonhole suspension device and maker's name " Joh.Schwerdtner Wien "

It is the only specimen I have ever seen

Would anyone know anything about this badge and the issuing organization which I presume to have been a relief organization operating in the Transvaal ( Z.A. ) Republic in the period before the British occupation of Johannesburg in 1900 during the Anglo-Boer War

    7. I was interested to see the numbers issued for GV undated badges. Some of these were awarded to to those whose titles were granted before 1911 and were still alive in 1911 .

I have one ( bought in a lot of three Gv Khan Sahib badges  , the other two of which are now duplicates for   disposal ) which was for a pre 1911 title grant to the Subadar Major of the Kurrum Militia. This was not apparent from the badge itself which only has the recipient name but no rank

I was also interested to note that fewer awards were made to Muslims than to Hindus

What the table does not show is how many ( probably not that many ) of the top two tiers were direct first time awards and not upwards promotions from a lower tier .I have one to a Khan Badahur who probably received the direct award because of considerations of status

It would be interesting to know what proportion of the total awards were to Military recipients .

Possibly some of these may have received the ITB where they were not deemed eligible for the OBI

    8. Thank you Rusty for posting these images. Much appreciated

The Roots medal ( a nice genuinely awarded example as far as i am concerned ) is actually die 3 reverse and not die 1 as per the catalogue description .The die numbering , as per a  previous researcher's article, is arbitrary and does not denote any actual order of usage as far as I am aware

      I have to date images of the following , so images of , or references to , any others would be much appreciated ;

NAMED: Arendt, Cornelis , Dicks , Faroe, Ferara , Green ( rev.only , still need obv. ) , Keiberg, McKain, Roots

UNNAMED: as above, as posted by JL on BMF, as per DNW Archive , as held by Iziko, on Bid or Buy 9/2019

Besides the piece of the medal, images of the suspension are needed
