This came with a lot I just acquired. It's silk and very well made but I have no idea what it's for. It looks almost like a cigarette silk. Could someone please elucidate?

Great news The seller has withdrawn the bar and is our newest member. Welcome aboard, Warren

I'm glad my suspicions are confirmed. A couple other things I found odd were the double line of machine stitching on the backing and the ridge across the front.
It's a shame, cause the seller has some very nice items.

Did the seller polish and rehang them?
I would expect the Centennial after the Bavarian.
Yup, problem #1. The finish on the medals is bothersome too, although I have a bronze gilt 70/71 Spangenstuck that's just as shiny.
What about the shape of the bar?

Or maybe this'un with the shaving brush I guess knowing what a shaving brush is qualifies me for Old Fartdom

This bar's being offered by an eBay seller whom I think is honest but not that knowledgeable in this area so I'll keep his ID to myself for now. I think I see at least a couple things wrong with it but would like some other opinions.

Thanks for the reply. What about the hat? Is it also of the enlisted variety?
It looks like a brass Kokarde with a cutout FJ, an EM one. The officers' were bullion.

You don't see this mounting too often. From photos I've seen it's primarily for civilian wear. The cross itself is unmarked with a brass or copper core and plated brass frame. The buttonhole is marked C.W.& Co. Solide.

Roughly translated from v. Hessenthal, established on 27 June 1871 in rememberance of Queen Olga during the Franco-Prussian War to be awarded to men, women, and maidens for merit for volunteer work in the field in wartime or peace.

Gerd has pretty well summed up my opinion. One thing I would suggest is using UV positive repro ribbons with "Repro" or somesuch written on the back with indelible ink, maybe even engraved on the bar itself

Why on earth would a widow need a screw-back badge?

The Ehrenkreuz f?r Eltern was for next of kin, regardless of sex. I used to have a stickpin with both Frontk?mpfer and Eltern, obviously not for a woman.

I didn't take you for a Deadhead - I thought of you more in the line of ZZ Top (wonder why?)

They were all made by K?nigliches M?nzamt Orden. They used at least 3 different cores and 2 different size stamps. There's also a considerable weight difference, almost 2 grams, among the various specimens.
Yours appear to be the smaller stamp, These scans illustrate the 2 stamps I know of.
There's speculation that there was some exchange of cores among manufacturers, probably due to production deadlines.

Seems to be interresting, I've also never seen a second one ...
I tell a lie It is silver plated, but at a later date as the dings and scratches are silvered too.. The plating has deteriorated since the last time I looked closely at it and now the, what appears to be the early copper bronze is showing through. Here's a better scan next to a pure copper one. It's about 1/2 g. lighter than the copper.

Well, actually it WAS Baden-Durlach until 1771, when Baden-Baden's male line died out and had no more to reign it, then tey were united to Baden ...
PS:
The ribbon for the medal on the right isn't okay, and: is the medal silvered?!
Check the Regnal Chronologies. They aren't infallible, but according to them Baden-Baden went to Baden -Durlach in 1771. Krause's "World Coins" also liists 19th-20th century coinage as Baden-Durlach.
Yup, wrong ribbon, but it just happened to be at hand. Not an original.
Nope, not silvered, but white bronze. Never seen another like it, but the details are excellent.
