Yeah, but "Marne" is misspelled. Send it back

Since it's on the back I don't think I'd bother, but you could try distilled water and an artist's brush.
I have an Austrian group that was "preserved" with a coat of Elmer's Glue and my one attempt at cleaning was a total disaster

Let me get the lists for Colonel H.H. Farzand-i-Dilband Rasikh-al-Iqtidad-i-Daulat-i-Inglishia, Raja-i-Rajagan, Maharaja Sir Jagajit Singh Bahadur, Maharaja of Kapurthala, and for Lieutenant-General H.H. Farzand-i-Khas-i-Daulat-i-Inglishia, Mansur-i-Zaman, Amir ul-Umara, Maharajadhiraja Raj Rajeshwar Yadu Vansha Vatans Bhatti Kul Bushan 108 Sri Maharaja-i-Rajgan, Maharaja Sir Bhupinder Singh Mahendra Bahadur, Maharaja of Patiala. I suspect they can top these! Here is Bhupinder Singh in his phaleristic prime:
I imagine they had a bit of a problem engraving their names on the rim

A recent acquisition, given that approximately 8000 Lubeck crosses were awarded, I wonder how many Lubeck crosses awarded to naval members is. I like this bar, it is a shame I will never be able to trace the recipient.
If I read von Hessenthal right, as L?beck had only one Infantry Battalion, 162 II, the majorit of the awards went to Naval and Marine personnel on S.M.S L?beck. Medical volunteers were also eligible.

The running stitch on the reverse looks pretty funky, especially for a Godet. You'd expect a whip stitch. I'd give it a miss.

You're right about the first FAM being on the Kriegsband, but yes, the middle one's mismatched. Should be an EK. The Bronze and Silver FAM's use the same ribbon and the peacetime ribbon is yellow with 2 wide and one narrow central black stripes. The wear on the FAM ribon looks different htan the EK and HK, but that could be due to the difference in weave. I'd move the silver over to give it a little more class and slap an EKII in the middle.

Thanks, Brian. I don't have Kiesling's books, just Janzen's. From his drawings the proportions match the '63, but the turn of the elbow where it joins the blade matches the '71. That's what confused me.

I've had this kicking around for a while. The socket is 3/4 in.+, overall length 22in. Cruciform blade. The socket matches the Swiss M1871 Vetterli in Janzen, but the dimensions don't seem the same. Any suggestions?

He's mainly a coin dealer, but dabbles in awards. I bought an Austrian Large Silver Bravery Medal from him and was very satisfied. He doesn't know medals that well, so does make honest mistakes. See this post.
I know nothing about Latvian awards, but the 2 he's now offering look OK to me.

Hi Tom,
The whole knife is 16 1/4 inches in length with the blade being 11 1/2 inches.
Cheers
Brian
My 19th c. Royal Nepalese Army one is 19in. overall and hand forged. The WWI & II models as I remember were only slightly shorter, maybe an inch. I think you've got a real winner. Do you have the sheath and the 2 small knives?

I'm hardly an expert, but from the wide pommel and lack of markings I doubt if it's military, and probably pre-1900. How long is it?

Looks good to me. See the Hemmerle I just posted. It's raining MVO's

I think I posted this in the smoking items thread, but it doesn't hurt to show it again.

And another package. By the time it came to me all that was in it was his dogtags. The name seems familiar
