Sounds about right. Different variations on the makers marks. Guess you could collect them all or just one depending on how far you want to take it. Is und German for and? If so that would explain the WuS mark. Where do I get this stuff for cleaning? Thanks
Ayup, und=and. You can get Boeshield at Sears or order it directly (see link in my 1st post). I prefer the squeeze bottle to the spray, as you don''t have to worry about overspray and it goes farther. A word of warning. If you're using it on mounted medals keep a piece of heavy paper between the medal and the ribbon til it's dry.

I believe WS, W&S, and Wu(nd)S are all Wagner & Sohn. As far as I know WMS hasn't been identified. I use Boeshield T-9 on a Q-Tip on my crosses and blades. it dries and stabilizes the rust.

I am impressed.... how did you get it ?
Some old guy named Dante told me. Got it above my bedroom door

There is also the story that the Fairburn & Sykes commando knife for a part was based on these "Stormdaggers"
They've always reminded me of a plug bayonet. Hardly fot in the muzzle of a .303, though

From the chipped paint on the reverse the core appears to be zinc. Is the frame silver?

The booksellers name is Walpurgius..... his motto at the entrance of his shop is....
Lasciate ogni ricchezza voi ch'entrate
;-)
But WOW... what a selection !!!! For a WW1 person it is heaven...... the prices are hell.....
Better ricchezza than speranza
He sells through Abebooks, too.

I forgot about the Pallasch and my only reference is this.
So, Kurhessisches Train-Bataillon Nr.11. Anyone have any info on them?

Don't clean, stabilize. The best thing I've found is Boeshield T-9.
Just dab it on with a Q-tip. Trying to remove anything wiill only do more damage.

Oh, jeez, goofed again
Didn't notice the German crown or Pickels. I guess it must be Willi.

I would think it commemorates the alliance between the AH empire and the German empire during WW1
The left portrait is H?tzendorf, not Wilhelm. Pure Austrian.

the little brother was for native colonials and for all kind of foreign allied troops, many austrian bars have this little MEZ2...
Thanks, Heiko. So it wasn't really an EK equivalent, as Austrians, at least, could get an EK?

with the unit marked on the guard. Dunno what the little dingus is below the XI.1. Looks like it might be a crowned T or I.
I'm hoping some kind soul can help me find out where it first saw action. See http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=1425...mp;#entry143083
Scans thanks to the seller, Rhonda J.

This just arrived today, more tightly wrapped than I
From my meager references it's a K?rassier's blade
Made by Weyersburg & Stamm
and accepted in 1871

Just in from Stuttgart, this little beauty, shown with his big brother. I'm a little confused about this one.
I know Big Bro was the EK equivlaent for non-EK wars, but what about Little Bro? I can't find anything in Her Doktor von H's book. Maybe if my German were better
Was this strictly for native Colonial troops?

As you've probably guessed, one of the reasons I'm asking about the bar is because I thought I might have an ID on it, but I have a lot of doubts. The person I have in mind is qualified for all of the Prussian, Bavarian & 3rd Reich awards on this bar, but I don't think the Austrian/Hungarian awards apply, as to my knowledge he was never on the Austrian front. He served in France on the Western front the entire war. Could he have received the Austrian awards without serving on that front?
Tim
The Austrian and Hungarian awards were available to any vet, regardless where they served.

Everyone sleeping or they just dont like me :-)
Does NOONE have an idea of when this was worn?
We don't like you
Those oakleaves seem rather strange for a Turkish buckle

Hooks of either round or flat stock in brass are perfectly kosher, but yours looks homemade from aluminum.
While homemades aren't that uncommon, the combination of the extremely well finished backing and the post-1913 W?rttemberg and pre-1913 Prussian DA's gives me pause for thought.

It's off-topic but... does anyone have "The Prussian and German Iron Cross" by Bowen, V. E? Is it worth having?
Not a bad book, but I wouldn't consider it a "must have". I would say almost everything in it is covered by "The Iron Time" without the errata and the photos leave a lot to be desired. The only copies I've seen available are just that, bound photocopies from a certain notorious ex-officer in Maryland
. Definitely don't wat your money on one of them

Are these supposed to be used by the locals in the occupied areas, or the German troops...... or both?
I imagine by both. There were occupation bills authorized in Sept. 1916 with the Polish eagle printed on them.

I remember sometime back in the Eisenhower era a supposed Russian spy was supposedly caught with a hollow nickel containing microfilm

I don't see any obvious problems with the core and frame, but the truncated hooks, 1914 style pin, and oddly paterned patination on the reverse would give me pause.
