Here's an EKI doc from 1921 to a Zahlmeister, signed by a Generamajor. Hopefully someone more conversant in chicken scratches can decipher the rest of it.

posted on MCF and, perhaps, here awhile back....
cananyone identify the black, almost glasslike
material that sandwiches the silver.
should be the same material as the frauen u.
jungfrauen cross.
thanks,
joe
The Frauen und Jungfrauen is enamel. The silver cross was enameled, the emamel polished, and then the details chased in the exposed silver. Here's an extreme closeup of the FuJK showing the junction of the silver and enamel. Note the fine scratches from polishing.

Here's mine. A recent acquisition.

Joe, have you posted this before in another forum far, far away? If not, it's the second one I've seen (in pics only
)

Not German, but from her Gallant Allies. Turkish meerschaum, NZ bringback from Gallipoli or thereabouts.

reverse.

BTW, this is very similar to the construction
of the 1871 Frauen und Jungfrauen Kreuz.
Did I ever mention that I'm an expert on semi-precious stones? You should send it to me for analysis

The stripes on the ribbon denote repeat awards. The holder of #1 took longer to learn to duck than #2

This is the bag for the extra propellant for the austrian 10 cm M14 field howitzer:

I guess I'll hang onto it til Boonzaier gets an M.14

Tom,
According to a Moritz Ruhl book I have, your shoulder strap button was worn by the Leib-Komp. of the Hess. 115.L.G.I.R. and the Leib-Esk. of the 23.Drag.Rgt.
Chip
Thanks, Chip. Anyone want to donate a uniform to fit it?

The second one (crowned "L") is not a rank button. I do like your nice selection Tom.
Chip

Not a chance from RIBBONS, I am afraid, since there is no way to tell what CLASSES any of those nifty ribbons were. The Carl Eduard was given in peacetime as well as during the war.
This could EITHER be an EXTREMELY well decorated serving NCO, or a dR/dL/ dR aD/dL aD type officer's boutonniere. The Ernestine could be two medals, a cross, or any variation of two Knights crosses-- all normal pre-war peacetime, normal "peacetime" during the war, or the War Effort versions with wartime year dates on the arms/date bars.
Just too many variables without the Actual Dinguses!
I'd say there is also a very high chance from the placement that the Bulgarian "war ribbon" is a Bavarian WW1 Red Cross "home service" type medal (the precise name of which escapes me since it was an "organizational" and not State award) which also used that ribbon--
see what I mean about variables?
DEFINITELY a Coburger, and me with the wartime rolls!!!!
Oh, well, it's still purty
Thanks, Rick. The RC home service makes more sense.

Tom,
Yours is one of the best examples that I have seen. It is nice to see a complete ensemble. I have been trying to put one together from the various parts.
Chip
The watch and case came together, but I performed the marriage service for the fob

Chris, thanks for bringing this back to the top. It gives me a chance to dust this little number off and show it
