    1. Hi,

Its German made, has a porcellain lid... cannot remember the motto on the lid... something from 1890 I think.

On the front I think it was "Treu bis in den Tod"

A good friend wrote to me from the states years ago and said "Chris !!!! Help !!! I am tired of the USA... drinking beer from plastic cups and tin cans !!!! I need something stylish and GERMAN !!!!"

      So I sent him this........

Maybe he will post better pics... if he has not been using the mug too much..

Lies, all lies! He wheedled me into paying him a small fortune for it :cheeky:

      As requested  [attachmentid=60202]

I'm picturing it empty, as the last time i showed it I was severely reprimanded for filling it with a Pilsner

    2. Wow - that is a nice one - wish I had gotten home to find that! From what you have shown - no doubt that its 110% original in every way. Nice find!

Thanks I think maybe I'll keep it  Wonder if the mark on the bars could be related to the square marked EK's.

    3. Hallo Doc, nice one, sometimes the maker mark can be found on the rear of the sword blades.

3 Form 1913 - 1921 And the ribbon had two thin black stripes to denote a war-time award as opossed to the Blue & white peace-time ribbon.

There also was a 4 Form 1916 - 1917 (came with a Crown & Swords, which just denotes a higher grade of III Class,) you can take a look at some other examples at http://gmic.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=7352

    4. The silver medals should also have a tiny indented "dot" assay office hallmark on the rims at about 1 o'clock-- normally the "A" of Vienna. I know some were supposedly made in Budapest, but I've never seen any other mark.

These are on a Small FJ Silver I have at 1:00[attachmentid=57237]

      and 11:00[attachmentid=57239]

I had assumed they were rim dings. The 11:00 looks more dingy than the scan shows.

    5. Just got this officer's patch knife from the same source. It's about 7 3/4 in. long with a horn and brass hilt and hand forged blade. I imagine the tang is peened over under the pommel. The second one doesn't show in the scan, but there are 2 brads through the pommel.

    6. An interesting piece but commemorative, I think, not official. The inscription reads Joseph II Francis Augustus, Roman and Austrian emperor and the date, 1806, is that of the defeat of Austria by Napoleon, pecipitating the abdication of Joseph as Holy Roman Emperor and the dissolution of the Empire. The statue would lead me to believe that it's in honor of the dedication of a monument to Joseph. The loop was most likekly for hanging on the wall.

    7. Hallo Tom

small point, wonder why he didnt turn over the bronze?? the silver looks ok, I would say the two clean looking ribbons are replacements, the hollow rivet in them looks to have a wider rim where the hook goes through.

      Kevin in Deva,

Maybe unintetional. Thanks all. I think I'm gonna go for the FJ Large Silver.
